The assist system is one of them. Unlike most other games, getting assists in Marvel Rivals is not just about getting a hit or two on an enemy before taking them out; there are many other ways, especially using Strategists.

How Assists Work In Marvel Rivals

Assists in Marvel Rivals aren’t limited to dealing damage to an enemy while an ally secures the kill. It also isn’t limited to providing a debuff like a slow or a stun to the targeted enemy. The mechanics are a bit different in this game.

In Marvel Rivals, providing effects like heals and damage buffs to teammates and slows or stuns to enemies are the only ways to get an assist. Dealing damage and having a teammate get the final hit won’t count as assists. These are counted as eliminations. You can differentiate between an elimination and an assist during a match through the elimination icon that appears when you get one. It is different from the very large and flashy elimination or KO icon.

The scoreboard also keeps track of you and your team’s stats, which include assist counts.

Firstly, playing a Strategist gives you a better chance of hitting more assists. Since these characters are essentially healers, helping a teammate who eliminates an enemy by healing them counts as an assist. This is the easiest way to farm assists in the game. Strategists with heals with lower or no cooldowns are even better for this. For example, Adam Warlock’s healing is on a cooldown, making him not the most efficient character for gathering assists.

Another character who can farm assistance easily but who is not a strategist is Storm. Her “Weather Control” ability boosts any allies within her vicinity with a movement or damage boost. If her teammates get eliminations while having these buffs, they count toward Storm’s total assist.

Here is a list of characters that have certain buffs and heals without cooldowns that can be quite effective while farming assists:
