Marvel Rivals has a versatile roster from the very beginning of Season 0 - Doom's Rise, with over 30 playable characters to choose from across 3 different roles. Each role (Vanguard, Duelist, or Strategist) has a different job to play on the battlefield for their team, and each character within this role performs this job slightly differently based on their unique ability kits. However, with such a range of different heroes and villains to select from at the beginning of every match, figuring out which characters you're best at can be a case of trial and error.

Hela is one of the many Duelist characters in Marvel Rivals, and when played to her full potential, she can be a formidable and fearsome foe to go up against. Hela's ability kit is quite solid in the fact that it enables her to deal damage from both mid and long range, and combo abilities to secure easy picks with perfect execution. If you're looking to pick up Hela for the first time, you can find all of the information you'll need to get started in the guide below, including a list of her abilities and tips and tricks for combat.

Tips and Tricks for Playing Hela in Marvel Rivals

hela

A skilled Hela can be absolutely lethal to go up against in Marvel Rivals, especially due to her Team-Up and passive abilities enabling her to further hinder the enemy and support her allies through doing nothing other than simply playing her part in each team fight. If you can execute smart use of her explosive projectiles and nail your accuracy with her primary fire, Hela can two-shot kill a lot of the squishier characters on the roster, so learning how to properly utilize her kit is important. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you get started:

  • Hela's Flock is highly important for enabling her to reposition during team fights. This ability not only enables Hela to reach advantageous positions such as high ground, but also enables her an escape opportunity if a melee-oriented fighter such as Iron Fist, Black Panther, or Spider-Man gets up close and personal with her.
  • You should always be wary of your own position, and look to reposition as often as possible. Hela is devastating at mid-range and has some long-range opportunities with her hitscan projectile attacks. However, she's also fairly obvious to spot when standing up on high ground shooting down at opponents, so depending on where you play, she will stick out after landing a few hits. Using your Flock and descent to reposition to and from different positions is key to keeping your opponent on their toes and hitting them from off-angles to secure picks. And more so than other Duelists, you should always be wary of where your Strategists are playing, as even with her Flock, Hela isn't as mobile and quick as other Duelists.
  • You have to be pretty clever with your positioning of Hela's ultimate. Hela's ultimate essentially does make her a sitting duck in the sky, so if your team isn't also engaging with the enemy during utilization, then there's a possibility that the enemy will all focus fire you to gun you down. However, when utilized efficiently, Hela can use this ultimate to pick multiple squishies and potentially turn the tide of the team fight on her own.
  • Keep an eye out for characters who are running back to their Strategists for healing. Both Hela's Piercing Night ability and passive cause detonation around the area of the target, so if you're able to pick the character who is low with one of your shots, you can apply extra damage to the strategists around them, as well, which has the potential to create a lot of pressure. A Hela with good accuracy can be the biggest thorn in the enemy Strategist's side, either applying pressure to them constantly or picking them in repetition to put the enemy at a heals disadvantage.
  • Hela can use her explosive to disrupt support play between the enemy or to single targets out, so target priority is key at all times. With Hela, she is quite versatile in the way that she can operate - she is capable of dueling snipers, hassling Strategists, and increasing pressure on the field at mid-range. By working on your target priority (which can come naturally by simply playing the game over time), you will be able to be much more effective with who you are targeting and which characters you're looking to pick first. In team fights, the first pick can be absolutely brutal for either side depending on who it is, and Hela has great potential to control this.
  • Try to avoid melee, when possible. Obviously, Hela is strongest when you keep some distance between you and the opponent, which is supported by her Flock ability. The biggest threats to Hela are characters who can close distance on her and apply rapid damage - both when it comes to Vanguards and other Duelists. You should always avoid entering melee range with the enemy unless in certain situations; such as killing the last person alive when you have a numbers advantage. This is especially true when using Flock, as you will need to be mindful that once you have repositioned, you no longer have a mobility tool for another 12 seconds, which is more than enough time for decent opponents to kill a Hela.
