Anyone who has spent even a few minutes with Marvel Rivals has likely become familiar with Jeff the Land Shark. Either they've taken Jeff's reins and experienced what it's like to control him on the battlefield, or they've been unexpectedly swallowed by Jeff while attempting to capture a zone, only to for the adorable land shark to then send them careening off the edge of the map in a desperate kamikaze maneuver to put his team ahead in the score. After Jeff was captured and put on display at the Collector's Theme Park, he broke free when Marvel Rivals' Timestream Entanglement fractured reality. Now a part of Marvel Rivals' extensive roster, Jeff is out to prove that he's a hero, and he does so with aplomb.

Quite obviously, Jeff's standout characteristic is his personality, which ultimately distinguishes him from the rest of the characters in Marvel Rivals' roster. Whereas almost every character in Marvel Rivals' roster has a more serious, calculated persona, Jeff is wacky, charismatic, unpredictable, and really difficult to hate. His captivating smile can warm the coldest heart, and that's especially true during one of his MVP animations, which sees him eating the camera, regurgitating it, and then licking the screen as if to let players know he was just teasing when he ate them.

Jeff the Land Shark Is a Powerhouse on the Battlefield

Jeff the Land Shark's adorable personality isn't his only strength, as he is also quite a powerhouse on the battlefield. Despite his small stature and seemingly lighthearted nature, Jeff's agility and unpredictability make him a formidable weapon in the right hands. Using his unique Hide and Seek ability, Jeff can submerge himself in the ground for a movement boost, a smaller hit box, and gradual healing, all while he's muttering the Jaws theme song. He has other healing abilities as well, but his Jeff's ultimate skill, It's Jeff, is without a doubt his most powerful. It's Jeff causes Jeff to create a massive maelstrom in the ground that pulls down any enemies caught within it, only for Jeff to spit them out later.

Players have also been known to use It's Jeff to carry foes off the map for a quick death.

With his deceptively powerful abilities, lovable personality, and unexpected inclusion in the game's lineup, Jeff the Land Shark is more than worthy of the title of "breakout star" for Marvel Rivals. Everyone likely expected to play as characters like Iron Man, Spider-Man, Black Widow, and Captain America, but Jeff the Land Shark brings an entirely different element to the game with his lovable sense of humor and whimsy. Hopefully, Jeff the Land Shark is just a sign of things to come for Marvel Rivals and the game will see more unconventional characters added to its roster.
