Marvel Rivals players have spotted what appears to be a headshot detection bug affecting Mantis when she shoots at enemies. While not the most popular hero in Marvel Rivals, this bug has frustrated many players and prompted the community to ask developer NetEase for a fix.
One of the draws of Marvel Rivals is its roster of well-known comic book characters. While NetEase has included iconic heroes like Iron Man and Captain America, the lineup has many options, such as Mantis. As a Strategist, she uses her mental powers to support her team. Specifically, her kit features abilities like Allied Inspiration and Soul Resurgence to provide healing and damage boosts for teammates. However, like other Strategists in Marvel Rivals, she also has a normal attack that lets her go on the offensive against opponents when necessary.
Annoying Marvel Rivals Bug Causes Player to Get Stuck in a Teleport Loop
A game-breaking Marvel Rivals bug causes a player to teleport back to spawn multiple times, trapping them in an almost infinite loop.
Unfortunately, this ability has seemingly become bugged and is frustrating many players. As highlighted on Reddit by HighlyIndecisive, the hero has a strange hitbox issue that makes landing headshots against enemies more difficult. According to the Reddit user, an extra area around enemies’ heads registers shots from Mantis. As seen in a video, this more forgiving hitbox only seems to apply to Mantis, with characters like Adam Warlock missing their target when aiming in the same areas. While HighlyIndecisive surmised that this unique hitbox effect when using Mantis is supposed to make her easier to play, they noted that it often has the opposite result since it can be inconsistent, sometimes failing to distinguish proper headshots from other hits.
Mantis Has a Headshot Detection Issue in Marvel Rivals
This Mantis bug seems to be frustrating many members of the Marvel Rivals community, with this Reddit post gaining more than 2.3K upvotes in only a few hours. In the comments, users noted that aiming with the character felt “weird” and attributed this bug partly to the problem. In addition, some players advocated reporting the bug to NetEase through the game’s official Discord to bring attention to the issue in hopes of a future patch.
Given the importance of aiming in Marvel Rivals, it is understandable how this enemy hitbox issue could frustrate players. Landing a headshot can mean the difference between winning or losing a fight, so being potentially penalized for aiming correctly is an issue that NetEase will likely look into soon if it wants the pick rate for Mantis to avoid dropping.
While it is unclear when a potential fix for Mantis could happen, the game gets new updates relatively often. For example, Marvel Rivals received a new patch on April 30 that introduced a variety of fixes for characters like Star-Lord, Mister Fantastic, and more. Hopefully, a future update will address this Mantis bug for those who enjoy playing the character.
