Summary
- Marvel Rivals may introduce the Krakoa map soon, as hinted at in Galacta's Cosmic Adventure event.
- Fans speculate the Krakoa map may be teased through a countdown timer and game content.
A new Marvel Rivals theory predicts that its developers have already revealed an upcoming map for the game, even if they haven't announced it yet. There are currently more than a dozen different maps that can be used in Marvel Rivals' various game modes, and next on the docket may be the living island, Krakoa.
The Galacta's Cosmic Adventure Event in Marvel Rivals kicked off on March 7. Running through April 11, the in-game event allows players to pick up a bunch of different rewards, including a Mrs. Barnes Black Widow skin, sprays, and nameplates. To earn rewards, players can spend a special currency called Galacta's Power Cosmic to roll dice and move around a board-game-inspired area that features six different regions, each reflecting a different already-existing Marvel Rivals map.
Marvel Rivals Fans Point Out Big Missed Team-Up Opportunity
Enthusiastic fans talk about one big team-up opportunity in Marvel Rivals that hasn’t yet been explored by the hero shooter game’s developer.
But a few players have pointed out a seventh section of the board game area that they think may be a reference to Krakoa, the former enemy of the X-Men that now serves as a haven for mutantkind. The linear path heroes follow does not cross through the central part of the map, which contains an image depicting floating rocks with smooth, flat tops. On one of these rocks is a smaller image of the event map, but the other is obscured by darkness and a question mark, along with a countdown timer to a big reveal. Some players, including Reddit user BakeMate, believe this timer is teasing a new map for Marvel Rivals, and fans have been submitting evidence to support Krakoa as the next location to be added to the game.
Krakoa Map May Be Coming to Marvel Rivals
One of the rewards for participating in Galacta's Cosmic Adventure may be a clue pointing to Krakoa's upcoming reveal. A Marvel Rivals spray called Damaged Cerebro shows off the headset used by Professor Charles Xavier and other telepathic members of his X-Men team to boost their powers. It has undergone several cosmetic changes throughout the years, but as pointed out by some players, the damaged Cerebro headset shown in the spray reflects a version that Xavier wore in Krakoa.
There are other clues pointing to Krakoa that come from lines spoken by characters in the game. One of the more subtle ones comes from Doctor Doom in Marvel Rivals during the Eternal Night Falls event from earlier this year. Doom announces that he has a gala to attend, which fans believe is a reference to the Hellfire Gala, an event that took place in the comics in Krakoa in 2021. Players have pointed out that other characters like Wolverine, Scarlet Witch, and Magneto have also had lines referencing the living island since the game's launch.
