Summary
- NetEase Games is releasing a new update for Marvel Rivals on June 5.
- Players have found playing Vanguard heroes to be more difficult due to flying heroes.
- The upcoming patch on June 5 includes new skins and an innovative game mode.
Marvel Rivals has given players their first look at what they can expect to see when the popular hero shooter's next update goes live on June 5. NetEase Games recently released its major mid-season update for Marvel Rivals, which added the popular villain Ultron to the title's ever-expanding roster.
While many players are enjoying the Season 2.5 update, others are having a difficult time. Some gamers have said that playing a Vanguard in Marvel Rivals is even more difficult than before, as there are now four flying heroes in the game. The heart of the issue seems to be that the vast majority of Vanguards lack any real ranged attacks that would allow them to deal with flying foes. This isn't a big issue on maps with a lot of tight spaces, but it becomes a problem in locations with open areas. Some fans have said this has especially decreased the viability of The Thing, as even his ultimate requires enemies to be on the ground.
Marvel Rivals Player Creates Impressive Stop Motion Tribute
One Marvel Rivals player manages to recreate some of the popular hero shooter's most iconic MVP screens using stop motion animation.
In a recent post on Twitter, NetEase Games revealed its patch notes for Marvel Rivals' upcoming update, which will go live on June 5. The developer also stated that there will be no downtime associated with the patch, which means people will simply need to update and restart their game once it goes live. While some players were hoping to see a wide variety of balance changes, like buffs for Marvel Rivals' Ultron, the update appears to be focused on other things.
Marvel Rivals Reveals Its June 5 Patch Notes
Among various optimizations and bug fixes, players will also be able to purchase new skins for both Wolverine and Jeff the Land Shark. Wolverine's new Marvel Rivals costume is modeled after his time in the Weapon X program, which is a major part of the character's backstory in the comics and movies. Meanwhile, Jeff the Land Shark is getting something of a summer makeover with his Sunshine Land Shark skin. As of writing, there has been no official announcement about how much the cosmetics will cost.
Players will also be able to engage in a new Marvel Rivals game mode called Ultron's Battle Matrix Protocol, which is unlike anything NetEase Games has released in the popular hero shooter before. Instead of taking control of one character, players will be able to choose a full team of heroes. After selecting their team, gamers will place the heroes on a grid, choose perks, and have their team face off against foes in tactical combat. The new mode has many players excited, as it's a fresh way to use Marvel's iconic roster. With so much content to enjoy and even more just around the corner, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Marvel Rivals.
