Marvel Rivals could be ported to the PlayStation 4 as soon as Season 4 launches in mid-September, according to a post that claimed the game's files were already being loaded onto Sony's servers. However, Marvel Rivals developer NetEase Games has not yet officially confirmed that the game will be ported to a new platform just yet.
Months after the team shooter went live in December 2024, NetEase stated it would love to port Marvel Rivals to the Switch 2 console as soon as possible, citing fans' demands to get the game on Nintendo's latest system. However, like other third-party developers, NetEase also confirmed that the studio has not yet received a Switch 2 development kit from Nintendo as of July 2025. Additionally, should NetEase succeed in obtaining a Switch 2 development kit, the process of porting the game to Nintendo's new console could still take several months of development time before it is ready for release.

While NetEase continues its discussions with companies like Nintendo to bring Marvel Rivals to more platforms, a rumor suggests that the team shooter could be heading back a console generation with its next potential port. According to PlayStation Game Size on Twitter, Marvel Rivals could receive a PS4 port as early as the upcoming Season 4, which is tentatively scheduled to arrive on September 12. The leak stated that a file titled Marvel Rivals version 01.01 was recently uploaded to Sony's servers. The file in question included a short patch note that stated that Marvel Rivals Season 4 is coming. While details about the game's next season have not been officially revealed, rumors about Deadpool coming to Marvel Rivals have made the rounds on social media thanks to some unearthed voice clips.
As of this writing, NetEase has not confirmed that a PS4 port of Marvel Rivals is in development, so all rumors must be taken with a grain of salt. However, considering that the PS4 has sold over 117 million units, a port could boost Marvel Rivals' dwindling player count, which has decreased by an estimated 86% on Steam since reaching its peak player count in January. In response to the PS4 port leak, Marvel Rivals players wondered how the game would perform on the last-gen system.
Given that Marvel Rivals was made using Unreal Engine 5, which has come under scrutiny for its technical issues, players have expressed concerns about whether the PS4 can handle the game without overheating.
