With Season 4 approaching its end, NetEase has begun subtly teasing the likely next set of playable heroes coming to Marvel Rivals in Season 5. It's been a busy month for Marvel Rivals as the multiplayer hero shooter is coming off of a very successful seasonal event and preparing to transition to a new season later this month.
Thanks to the recent PvE Zombies mode, Marvel Rivals has seen a boost in player numbers over the past month. Alongside the Zombies mode, players could also earn free rewards and a special MCU skin for Blade during the Voyage to Astonish event, further helping to boost the game's numbers. Now, as Season 4 approaches its end date, NetEase has seemingly begun teasing players with the next upcoming season alongside the characters that will likely be joining the already expansive roster of heroes and villains.

The back-and-forth competition between Marvel Rivals and Overwatch 2 isn’t stopping anytime soon, with the former clearly taking the lead.
Marvel Rivals Teases "Iconic Duo" for Season 5
Thanks to Miller Ross, players have seemingly gotten their first look at Gambit and Rogue, classic Marvel X-Men characters which appear to be set as the Season 5 playable heroes. In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it reveal, NetEase sneakily added the characters to the background thumbnail image of the November 6 patch notes on the official website. The duo are fairly hard to make out, really blending in with the yellow-colored background and are very easy to miss.
Following the lead of Ross, "badguyjohn" was also able to further clean up the thumbnail image, helping to make both Gambit and Rogue much clearer and easier to see. Longtime fans will likely be happy with NetEase's character design as both characters seem to feature their signature looks. Players may remember that Gambit and Rogue were included in the big leaked character list for Marvel Rivals, so their inclusion shouldn't be too surprising and with NetEase officially teasing them, it appears highly likely that they'll appear in Phase 1 and Phase 2 of Season 5.
Speculation has already begun as to what sort of role both characters could fill, with Gambit likely being an attacking-style Duelist. Rogue could be a little tougher to place considering how strong she can be and being able to essentially steal the powers from anyone she comes in contact with. It's possible she leans more as a Vanguard or event a Duelist, though it's likely that fans might be able to rule out the Strategist role, which is typically centered around healing or buffing teammates. Surprisingly, it's been a long time since Marvel Rivals got a true Strategist character, with many not including the more DPS focused Ultron in that category.
