Marvel Rivals is nearly halfway through its first season, The Empire of Eternal Night. Marvel Rivals added its first two new heroes at the very beginning of the season, with the arrival of Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. Marvel Rivals has already announced who the next pair of playable heroes will be, but they are currently without a definitive release date.
The Fantastic Four wouldn't be complete with only two of its members. Thankfully, The Thing and The Human Torch have already been confirmed as the next playable heroes to join Marvel Rivals. Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman only joined the game very recently, but there is good reason to believe that The Thing and The Human Torch will arrive sooner rather than later.
The Unwritten Rules of Marvel Rivals Explained
Marvel Rivals has its own set of unwritten rules for success, and players looking to improve at the game would be wise to follow them.
Marvel Rivals' Next Playable Heroes Could Be Right Around the Corner
The Thing and The Human Torch Have a Release Window, But Not a Release Date
Unfortunately, The Thing and The Human Torch currently lack an official release date. However, Marvel Rivals' developers at NetEase have already confirmed a couple of important details about their release window. This includes their role in Marvel Rivals Season 1, which has been split into two halves.
Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman were released on January 10, the day Marvel Rivals Season 1 began. The Thing and The Human Torch will be released to celebrate the season's second half, with both halves scheduled to last around six to seven weeks. This places the approximate release window of the remaining members of The Fantastic Four between February 21-February 28.
The Thing and The Human Torch Should Rival Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman
It's currently impossible to tell when NetEase will confirm an exact release date, but this doesn't mean fans are completely in the dark. As the first two characters to join Marvel Rivals after launch, Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman set an interesting precedent. With some simple speculation, this precedent could serve as a hint for the exact release date of The Thing and The Human Torch.
Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman were released simultaneously, and there's no reason to assume their remaining teammates won't be released at the same time as well. Likewise, Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman kicked off The Empire of Eternal Night. Since The Thing and The Human Torch are the focus of the season's second half, it only seems right that they would headline it from the beginning like their counterparts did. With this in mind, the current most likely release date for The Thing and The Human Torch is February 21.
Marvel Rivals' Future Release Schedule
Marvel Rivals' Season 1 content will be a tough act to follow. Adding four new characters is a huge achievement by itself, but it's hard to imagine that such fast-paced development could remain sustainable. Developers appear to agree, according to a recent announcement regarding the release schedule of future heroes.
After The Fantastic Four are reunited, the pace of new heroes will slow down a bit. For the foreseeable future, Marvel Rivals will release a new hero once every month and a half. This is still a very fast pace relative to other hero shooters, and this amount of support is nothing short of impressive. The Thing and The Human Torch will likely release soon, and will hopefully continue the wave of excitement that Marvel Rivals has enjoyed so far.
