Summary

  • Marvel Rivals players want to see more synergy among the game's Vanguard heroes.
  • Ever-evolving team-up abilities in Marvel Rivals aim to shift the game's meta from season to season.
  • Players would like to see more Vanguards with ranged abilities to counter flying heroes.

A Marvel Rivals fan has suggested that every Vanguard should have a team-up ability with another tank to encourage having more than one of them on a team at the same time. Marvel Rivals famously lacks any sort of role queue, which means players are free to choose any team composition they believe is viable. Unfortunately, this sometimes means that teams lack the ideal number of Strategists or Vanguards.

The ability to form team-ups in Marvel Rivals is both powerful and thematic, as it's very common for superheroes to display unique abilities when they come together in comics, movies, or other forms of media. One of the developers claimed that, when they initially pitched the idea, they used the team-up between Storm and Human Torch as an example. When both heroes are present in a team, they have the ability to combine their ultimates, creating a massively destructive fire tornado on the battlefield. These abilities and buffs can make a noticeable difference during a match and encourage players to coordinate when constructing a team.

In a recent post on Reddit, Stickfigure91x suggested that every Vanguard in Marvel Rivals should have a team-up ability with another tank. They claimed that this may encourage more gamers to play Vanguards and normalize having two tanks on a team at the same time. As of writing, there are currently Vanguard team-ups between Hulk and Doctor Strange, Venom and Peni Parker, and Captain America and Thor. Many fans agreed with the suggestion, claiming that doing so may alter the hero shooter for the better. One person said that it would be a great way to encourage filling a role without implementing a queue.

Marvel Rivals Players Want More Synergy Between Tanks

NetEase Games recently confirmed that Marvel Rivals' team-up abilities will change as the game continues to mature. This evolution is meant to encourage different character combinations while also shifting the game's meta from season to season. So, while Captain America and Winter Soldier don't currently have a team-up ability, it's very possible fans may see one come to the game in the future. This is also true for combinations that might include multiple Vanguards.

Some gamers have also expressed a desire to see more Marvel Rivals Vanguards with ranged abilities in the future. As of writing, Peni Parker is the only tank who can consistently attack enemies from a distance, allowing her to combat some of the title's more notorious flying heroes. Numerous players have expressed frustration over characters like Iron Man, Storm, and Human Torch, as most Vanguards don't have a proper way to counter them. There's no way of knowing how NetEase Games will respond to the community's feedback, but many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Marvel Rivals.
