Summary
- Venom's swinging ability in Marvel Rivals can backfire, leading to comical mishaps.
- While trying to return to the battle, one player was sent flying off the map after using the Venom Swing ability.
- Some players find the Venom Swing clunky, but adjusting settings can help.
While playing Marvel Rivals, one player's attempt to use Venom’s swing ability to get back to the point quickly ended in disaster. While this Marvel Rivals clip is hilarious, it also illustrates the issues some players have experienced while trying to use the character’s traversal ability.
Marvel Rivals launched with a roster of 33 characters, composed of Duelists, Vanguards, and Strategists. Despite many choices, some heroes have become more common on the battlefield than others, with Venom being a notable example. As a Vanguard character, he offers a tanky option for Marvel Rivals players. His large health pool coupled with his impressive movement, thanks in part to his Venom Swing ability, make him a challenging opponent when used by a skilled player. However, this movement can come at a cost when not used correctly.

The potential dangers of using the Venom Swing were displayed in a recent clip shared by a Reddit user known as Reasonable_Bother_86. In the video, the player was seen respawning as Venom in Marvel Rivals. With victory on the line in an overtime match, they attempted to use their swing ability to get back into the action quickly. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. While they had hoped to swing through an opening they had attached their webbing to, they instead ricocheted off the side of the wall. The momentum from the swing sent them flying off to the right and subsequently into the abyss below. Hilariously, the character ironically said, “You can’t get rid of us so easily,” before the anticlimactic death.
Marvel Rivals Player's Venom Play Does Not Go According to Plan
This amusing clip has caught the attention of the Marvel Rivals community on Reddit, with more than 3.5K users upvoting the mishap. While many fans joked about the unfortunate event, others brought up legitimate frustrations with the Venom Swing ability in Marvel Rivals. Some players felt that his swinging felt “clunky” and could be challenging to control. However, users pointed out that adjusting some of the settings for the ability, such as turning off automatic aiming, made it more predictable. While the idea of giving Venom another swing to help players get out of tricky situations was proposed, others, like Reasonable_Bother_86, argued that it could make Venom too effective at diving into the enemy team’s backline.
With hundreds of thousands of gamers playing Marvel Rivals a few weeks after its release, many other clips have surfaced online. For example, another player recently showcased a hilarious Marvel Rivals encounter between Spider-Man and The Punisher, with the former playing a game of peekaboo with the latter. Time will tell what clips are shown off by the community next.
