Marvel Comics has introduced several teams of super villains of the years, and has used some odd common bonds bringing them together. One of the most intriguing teams ever introduced as the Serpent Society, a team of super villains all themed like snakes. They banded together after Sidewinder promised they would never be arrested.

The Marvel Comics super villain team was modeled after a business while maintaining a criminal enterprise. It became a powerful group that advertised its services to any villain looking for some added muscle. The Serpent Society often ran afoul of several Marvel superheroes, most notably Captain America. Among its members, these are some of the most memorable.

Blanche "Blondie" Sitznski actually started as a steelworker before being bioengineered into a snake like mutant for a mission to steal the Serpent Crown. When the Serpent Society was defeated, Anaconda was not at the headquarters at the time, and she was thus able to evade capture. She eventually joined the group Six Pack, which had been hired by the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. To perform intriguing missions.

5 Black Mamba

Black Mamba

Much like Anaconda, Black Mamba was a member of the Serpent Squad who was betrayed by Sidewinder during the hunt for the Serpent Crown. She was one of the Squad members to track down Sidewinder, but still ended up siding with him due to his promises of riches and getting out of jail.

Black Mamba chose to stay loyal to Sidewinder when Viper was able to corrupt the Society and turn it against him. She aligned with Captain America to take down the corrupted version of the Serpent Society. Black Mamba would go on to join BAD Girls Inc., taking on the Avengers several times.

4 Diamondback

Diamondback

Diamondback was one of the people recruited to join the initial Serpent Society after Sidewinder was able to sway his former comrades to not attack him. She stayed loyal to Sidewinder when the Society was corrupted, which came in handy when the corrupted Society put her on trial for her relationship with Captain America.

Sidewinder used his teleportation cloak to save Diamondback, which allowed her to help take down the Society. She later joined Captain America and Black Mamba in storming the Serpent Citadel in an effort to stop the corrupted Serpent Society. She eventually joined back up with Black Mamba in BAD Girls Inc.

3 King Cobra

King Cobra

Cobra started out in the first two incarnations of the Serpent Squad before being recruited to join the Serpent Society. When Viper corrupted the Society and overthrew Sidewinder, Cobra sided with Viper. However, Cobra is the one who subdued Viper and turned her over to Captain America, taking over the Society and becoming King Cobra in the process.

The Society was still corrupt with King Cobra in charge. He was the one he ordered Diamondback to betray Captain America, and ordered her death when she refused. Despite falling with the Serpent Society, he rebounded to help the Thunderbolts during Civil War.

2 Viper

Viper

The middle leader of the Serpent Society, Viper led the coup to overthrow Sidewinder but was overthrown herself by King Cobra. She was a member of the second Serpent Squad, but actually turned down a membership to the Serpent Society when first recruited.

Instead, Viper had her agents infiltrate the Society, which led to the Society's corruption and removal of Sidewinder. However, Cobra's lust for power led him to turn Viper over to Captain America and take on leadership himself. Viper then led the team against the X-Men and Avengers.

1 Sidewinder

Sidewinder

The ultimate founder of the Serpent Society started in Serpent Squad, but betrayed the team during the search for the Serpent Crown. When the rest of the Squad caught back up to them, he was able to persuade them to join him in the Society with the promises of riches and to get them out of prison with his teleportation powers.

When Viper infiltrated the Society, Sidewinder left the group, but kept working with Black Mamba and Diamondback. He would eventually jump in to save Diamondback's life when King Cobra sentenced her to death. Sidewinder continued staying away from the Society even after Viper's downfall.
