Marvel Snap's 29th season, We Are Venom, introduced Agent Venom as the Season Pass card of the month. He is an On Reveal character with the ability to set the Power of all cards in your deck to four. Stat-wise, Agent Venom costs two and has four Power, making him a strategic early-game drop.
Marvel Snap: The Best Scarlet Spider Deck
Scarlet Spider can become a huge drop in this buff-based Marvel Snap deck with Namora and Gwenpool.
The challenge with Agent Venom, however, is that despite appearing to be a flexible card, he doesn't fit neatly into many archetypes. Building a deck around him can be tricky, as his ideal teammates are limited to cards like Iron Man, The Hood, and Sage—cards that can handle Agent Venom’s power manipulation. Here’s an example of a Marvel Snap setup that can indeed benefit from his effect.

The Best Deck for Agent Venom
Agent Venom is a perfect addition to a Bast-Thena deck. You can create such a lineup by paring the said trio (Agent, Bast, Thena) with the following cards: Mysterio, Sage, Mystique, Shang-Chi, Kitty Pryde, The Hood, Iron Man, Blue Marvel, and Doctor Doom.

Agent Venom’s Deck Synergies
- Agent Venom synergizes with The Hood, Iron Man, Kitty Pryde, and Thena. You'll want him to boost these cards with four Power before they’re played, allowing them to scale more quickly.
- Bast complements Agent Venom by ensuring that cards in the hand can still receive a Power boost.
- Mystique acts as a wildcard, able to copy either Iron Man or Blue Marvel for extra buffs.
- Shang-Chi is the tech card, capable of disrupting the opponent’s strategy by destroying their strongest cards.
- Kitty Pryde, Thena, and Sage are your scalers, and you’ll aim to grow these cards as much as possible.
- Iron Man and Blue Marvel provide the primary buffs. (They’re also Mystique’s targets.)
- Doctor Doom is a secondary win condition, able to help fill the board when you're focusing on going wide. Mysterio, in this deck, falls in the same category as Doom.
Mystique, Thena, and Sage are flex cards. You can replace them with Patriot, Bishop, or Cassandra Nova.
How to Play Agent Venom Effectively
When playing Agent Venom, be prepared to go wide or tall. Agent Venom decks can't reliably secure specific locations, so it's essential to have backup strategies for either spreading or concentrating power. In the deck mentioned above, Blue Marvel helps with going wide—especially when paired with Mystique—while Iron Man plays a key role in going tall.
Agent Venom follows a strategy similar to Bast’s. You'll want him to target cards that are otherwise weak or detrimental, like The Hood or Iron Man. (Agent Venom cancels out The Hood’s -3 damage, while his buff compensates for Iron Man's lack of power as a standalone card.)
How to Counter Agent Venom
The classic tech-trio of Cosmo, Shang-Chi, and Shadow King are excellent counterplays against Agent Venom.
- Cosmo can block Agent Venom’s On Reveal ability, but the challenge is that Cosmo is a turn-three play, while Agent Venom typically hits the board on turn two.
- Shang-Chi can target scaled cards. And since Agent Venom decks tend to boost cards beyond ten Power points, Shang-Chi can easily destroy these buffed cards, undermining their strength.
- Shadow King can reset buffed cards' stats, making him a strong counter to Agent Venom decks, which rely heavily on buffs. By reverting all scaled cards to their base stats, Shadow King can effectively neutralize Agent Venom’s off-board performance.
Is Agent Venom Worth It?
The reviews are mixed. DeraJN, a well-known Snap player, described Agent Venom as a “cracked” card, believing it can easily win cubes. Meanwhile, Cozy, another prominent content creator, said “[Agent Venom] is fun; he does bring power to abilities like Iron Man or the Thena Zoo decks.” However, he also noted that it’s not a particularly competitive release.
Agent Venom may not be as game-changing a Season Pass card as last season’s Symbiote Spider-Man, but it's still a fun addition for decks that prioritize unique playstyles over the META. Agent Venom offers a buff card that pairs well with unexpected scalers and attackers like Mysterio, Thena, and Iron Man. And this could bring some variety to the Hela-focused metagame in Marvel Snap.
