With a win rate of 48%, Ghost might not be among the top picks of Marvel Snap players. However, it’s one of the most underrated cards in Pool 3, with massive control & surprise potential.
Despite its practical Ongoing, Ghost is often ranked in the lower tiers of Marvel Snap. The reason is that it’s easy to counter and weak against destructor characters. This guide, however, explains how to compensate for these downsides and maximize Ghost’s capabilities with a killer control lineup.
The Best Deck for Ghost in Marvel Snap
The most effective deck for Ghost is a control lineup with Nebula and Spider-Man. To build this deck, team up Ghost with Zabu, Jeff!, Lizard, Angela, Enchantress, Green Goblin, Shang-Chi, Mister Fantastic, Professor X, Nebula, and Spider-Man.

As with all control decks, Ghost’s setup aims to predict and manipulate enemy moves. Nebula, for example, encourages the opponent to play their cards in a specific location, exposing the other two. Professor X and Spider-Man, on the other hand, block or lock down risky lines to provide counterattack opportunities.
Here’s what each card in the Ghost deck does:
- Ghost: Reveals and activates cards after the opponent.
- Nebula: Gains +2 Power whenever the opponent skips her line.
- Jeff!: Moves once per game, no matter what.
- Lizard: Gives the opponent -4 if they have four cards in one line.
- Zabu: Makes the 4-Cost cards in the deck cost one less.
- Angela: Gains +2 Power each time a friendly card is in her line.
- Green Goblin: Flies to the enemy line and gives them -3.
- Mister Fantastic: Gives adjacent locations +2 Power.
- Shang-Chi: Destroys enemy cards with 9+ Power.
- Spider-Man: Blocks a lane for one round.
- Enchantress: Removes all Ongoing abilities in her location.
- Professor X: Locks down the entire location.
The Best Cards to Use in a Ghost Deck
Considering Ghost’s Ongoing ability, the best collaborative cards are Valkyrie, Shang-Chi, and Hazmat. These are among the top characters that would benefit from delayed reveals, which makes them perfect for Ghost decks.
The Best Counters for Ghost
Since Ghost relies on its Ongoing effect, Enchantress is its deadliest counter. She can remove Ghost’s Ongoing ability On Reveal, taking away its main advantage. What makes Enchantress an ideal counter is that she only costs four and can be played early on in the game.
Also, note that Ghost is a 1-Cost card that’s vulnerable against destroy-archetype characters like Killmonger. (That is why most Ghost decks rely on protective cards like Professor X and Armor.)
