Hydra Bob is a passive card in Marvel Snap that moves to a new location each time a player Snaps. He has sparked some controversy since his launch, with many players dubbing him the worst card in Marvel Snap. Despite this reputation, this guide compiles a fairly consistent deck that maximizes Hydra Bob's potential in the current metagame.
Marvel Snap: The Best Arishem Deck
Arishem, the most anticipated card in Marvel Snap, is finally here, and he thrives in this Cost-reduction deck.
Best Deck For Hydra Bob In Marvel Snap
Hydra Bob can perform somewhat reliably in a Zero Zoo deck that buffs cheap cards. You can assemble this lineup by paring up Hydra Bob, Zero, and Ka-Zar with the following cards: Makkari, Nocturne, Wasp, Sunspot, Gwenpool, Caiera, She-Hulk, Miles Morales, Ebony Maw, and Blue Marvel.

Explore the deck’s synergies here:
- Hydra Bob and the other one-Cost cards are buff candidates.
- Zero removes Ebony Maw’s ability to provide an extra cheap powerhouse.
- Gwenpool, Ka-Zar, and Blue Marvel are the primary buff providers.
- Caiera is the tech card that protects cheap drops.
- Sunspot and She-Hulk benefit from unspent Energy. (Sunspot grows stronger, and She-Hulk gets discounts.)
- Miles Morales gets a significant discount and hits the board early, thanks to Hydra Bob’s movement.
You can skip turn five to make She-Hulk a one-Cost, ten-Power card.
How To Play Hydra Bob Effectively In Marvel Snap
Here’s how Hydra Bob works:
- Every time a player Snaps, Hydra Bob moves randomly to another location (if possible).
- Hydra Bob can only move up to two times per match, provided that both players Snap in different rounds.
- If both players Snap simultaneously, Hydra Bob will only move once.
Considering his rather peculiar mechanics, Hydra Bob must be played as a tempo card. You should drop him early to gain the initiative and maximize the Power on one lane before the opponent can drop bigger cards. Most other strategies prove to be worthless, as Hydra Bob’s synergy with archetypes (even in the best movement decks) is minimal.
How To Counter Hydra Bob In Marvel Snap
As a one-Cost card, Hydra Bob can be eliminated with Killmonger. However, you could also entrap him with a junk or disruption deck. The newly changed Kingpin is a reliable counterplay for Hydra Bob, as he can inflict him with -2 Power early on. But, to be frank, Hydra Bob’s effect has been so negligible that you wouldn’t even need to respond in most scenarios.
Is Hydra Bob Worth It?
Hydra Bob is being dubbed as one of the worst cards ever to join Marvel Snap. Despite his impressive stats with four Power at low Cost, Hydra Bob is definitely a skippable card with little to no value. He lacks strong synergies, making it difficult to build a consistent deck around him. The only interesting thing about Hydra Bob is his Snap-oriented effect, which is new in Marvel Snap — though it’s not necessarily a welcome addition.
