High Voltage is Marvel Snap's latest game mode, introduced as a limited-time event—similar to the previous one, Deadpool's Diner. This time, the developer, Second Dinner, emphasizes the joy of winning fast-paced Marvel Snap games without any high stakes on the losing side. If you win, you earn exciting rewards, but if you lose, you don't lose anything at all.
In the official Marvel Snap blog post detailing the game mode, the developers explained their intentions: “Where Battle Mode explored longer matches with lots of information about your opponent’s plays, and Deadpool’s Diner explored making snapping and retreating even more central to the gameplay, High Voltage explores the other ends of each spectrum. You’ll be playing fast-paced games with lots of hidden information, and the focus will be on surprising combinations of cards.”
High Voltage Mode Explained
- Type: Event
- Game Duration: 1–2 minutes per match
- Event Duration: 7 days (Ends on October 24th at 12:00 PM PST)
- Currency: Volt
- Reward: Free Card (Agony)
The High Voltage mode is a limited-time event in Marvel Snap that emphasizes fast-paced gameplay. Each match consists of three rounds, with each round starting with a random number of Energy points. You can't Snap, and at the start of each turn, you'll draw two cards instead of the usual one.
You can play the High Voltage mode as many times as you like. Unlike the similar limited-time event, Deadpool's Dinner, this mode doesn't require tickets or currencies to start a match. Plus, you won’t lose anything if you’re defeated, making it a no-risk, high-reward experience.

In Marvel Snap’s High Voltage mode, the Arc Reactor replaces the Snap button. Its role is to randomly distribute two to five Energy points to players at the start of each round. The catch is that the Reactor’s Energy points stack even after you use them all.
For example, if you start the first round with three Energy and spend it all, the next turn, you’ll have a minimum of five Energy points, up to eight. The Reactor will provide you with an additional two to five points, stacking with the previous round’s Energy.
Best Decks and Cards for the High Voltage Mode
Currently, standard Zoo and Hela decks are performing well in the High Voltage mode. However, you can also opt for a Hulking deck featuring Blob, Alioth, Skaar, and Baron Zemo, which is currently the top-performing setup.
Due to the fast-paced, RNG-based nature of High Voltage mode, there are multiple strategies for building a deck, making it difficult to identify just one or two as the best for this event.
Based on current stats, the following cards have been dominating High Voltage so far, allowing you to build powerful decks around them:
- Hulkling: Excellent for leveraging the mode’s RNG.
- Blob: A powerhouse that exploits cards in your deck.
- Super Skrull: A tech card with high potential for growth, as Ongoing is a popular archetype in High Voltage’s META.
- Alioth: A destructive tech card that nullifies opponents' final-round strategies.
- Ebony Maw: Great for dominating one of the three lanes as early as the first round.
- The Living Tribunal: Essential for power distribution in tall rather than wide decks.
- Morph: The best joker or surprise drop for this mode.
- Odin: A reliable buff option.
- Infinaut: A solid win condition for the third round, though you'll need to skip the second round.
- Taskmaster: Another excellent option for power distribution like The Living Tribunal.
- Shuri: A consistent buff option for tall strategies.
- Black Panther: Perfect for building power.
- Arnim Zola: A good power distributor, especially when paired with Black Panther.
Cards That Are Banned in High Voltage
High Voltage's quick and short gameplay can lead to potential exploits. To prevent unfair advantages and game-breaking combos, Second Dinner has banned three cards in the mode: Galactus, Magik, and Black Widow.
- Galactus: Could allow players to skip the first two rounds and then win by dropping him in one of the weaker locations.
- Magik: Would extend the game, which contradicts the mode’s focus on fast-paced matches.
- Black Widow: Has the potential to disrupt gameplay by filling the opponent’s hand with Widow’s Bites.
How to Unlock Agony with Volts
You need 11,000 Volts to unlock Agony for free. Each time you win a High Voltage match, you earn only 20 Volts, which is minimal compared to the total required. A more effective way to unlock this card is by completing daily event missions every eight hours, which can yield up to 2,475 Volts a day. These missions refresh every eight hours, allowing for a total of six objectives each day.
By maximizing your daily mission points, you can unlock Agony in six days, provided you start grinding at the beginning of the event.
If you can't wait for the eight-hour daily resets, you can use Gold to refill your daily missions.
