Marvel Boy joined Marvel Snap in August 2024 as part of the Young Avengers lineup. He is a two-Power, three-Cost card that can give all one-cost cards on the board one Power at the end of each round. The following guide helps Marvel Snap players exploit this effect and create a consistent META deck for Marvel Boy.

Marvel Boy Deck's Synergies

  • One-Cost cards prepare the deck for the Marvel Boy-Gilgamesh combo.
  • Caiera and Echo serve as the primary tech cards. Caiera protects weak cards against possible Killmonger attacks, and Echo shields the team against the enemy’s Ongoing cards.
  • Blue Marvel and Ka-Zar provide additional buff to exploit Marvel Boy’s effect.
  • Gilgamesh benefits from all the buffs on the board to become a powerhouse.

Most one-Cost cards in Marvel Boy's deck are flexible options; you can replace them with your own favorite cheap drops.

How to Play Marvel Boy

marvel boy in marvel comics.

In most Marvel Boy decks, your goal is to fill the board with enough cheap drops to maximize the Power buff. However, Marvel Boy’s effect alone is usually not sufficient to win a match. Instead, you should use him as both a buffer and a buff activator. With the addition of cards like Gilgamesh to the game, you’ll want Marvel Boy to affect more cards, helping to create additional powerhouses by the final round.

Here are some notes on Marvel Boy’s gameplay:

  • Marvel Boy’s effect triggers right after you play him. So, assuming you drop him on turn three of a six-round game, Marvel Boy will grant +3 Power to each of the buff-eligible cards.
  • Marvel Boy’s effect cannot be retriggered. Unlike cards like Ka-Zar, Marvel Boy doesn’t come with an Ongoing or On Reveal effect, making it impossible to double his buff.

How to Counter Marvel Boy

Marvel Boy’s ability is passive; his text is neither On Reveal nor Ongoing. As a result, countering him directly is not practical. The best way to mitigate Marvel Boy’s effect is to use either Killmonger or Shadow King. Killmonger can eliminate all the one-Cost cards Marvel Boy has buffed, while Shadow King can remove the buffs he has distributed.

Is Marvel Boy Worth It?

Marvel Boy is one of the best new cards in Marvel Snap and is definitely worth the price. He’s a no-brainer addition to any Zoo deck and has excellent synergy with all one-Cost cards. Even better, he’s joining the roster in a highly sought-after lineup alongside popular cards like Blob and Red Hulk, reducing the risk of spending Spotlight Keys.
