Along with metagame changes and notable nerfs, the October 31st update in Marvel Snap brought a new feature: Spotlight Keys. These Collection Level prizes will enable players to open up Spotlight Caches at a desired pace, aiming to acquire only the cards they truly wish to have. To help clarify this innovative change, the following Marvel Snap guide explains what Spotlight Keys are, how they differ from the Caches, and why players need to hoard them.

What Are Spotlight Keys?

Added as a replacement for Caches, Spotlight Keys are collectibles that unlock monthly featured cards. Previously, Marvel Snap players received four Spotlight Caches for progressing in the Collection Level Road. These Caches are now substituted for Keys, giving players autonomy over which box they unlock.

Technically, the system has remained the same: Each month, players have the chance to unlock four Series 4 and 5 cards by opening chests. The only difference now is that they can hold onto keys and open Spotlight Caches only when the featured cards are desirable.

Before the Spotlight Keys, players simply refrained from opening earned Caches, saving them for later. Although this method would work, it could become bothersome since players would have to scroll down on their CL ladder to locate previous rewards. In this sense, Spotlight Keys are more of a quality-of-life upgrade than an actual gameplay mechanic change.

How to Obtain Spotlight Keys?

After reaching Level 500 on the Collection Level Road, players earn one Spotlight Cache per 120 CL. Therefore, to collect all four monthly keys, they must increase their Collection Level by 480. This is usually not the case, as players often collect one key and save it for their favorite rare or ultra-rare cards.

How to Use Spotlight Keys?

Once there’s a key in the inventory, players should head over to the Collection Level menu and tap and hold the Spotlight Cache in the left corner. Each chest requires one key and will reward players with one of the six featured cards of that particular week.

Should You Save Spotlight Keys?

Yes, saving Spotlight Keys is the ideal strategy for getting looked-for cards. Since these collectibles stack up, players can collect and save them for the most optimal pulls from Spotlight Caches.

Luckily, Marvel Snap reveals highlighted cards for each season in advance. This allows players to plan and utilize their keys only when a valuable Series 4 or 5 card is on the line.
