Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics was shadow-dropped on Xbox One on February 4, 2025, with the official announcement coming on the same day. Originally released for PS4, PC, and Switch, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics first hit the digital store shelves on September 12, 2024.

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is a compilation of old arcade games featuring characters from both the Capcom and Marvel universes. Its diverse catalog of classics includes seven different games, ranging from 1993's The Punisher to 2000's Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes. Upon its initial launch last year, the fighting game collection was met with strong reviews, completing a successful comeback for the crossover franchise whose fans hadn't seen a new release since 2017's Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. Back in September, the Japanese developer revealed its decision to port the MvC compilation to Xbox after fans' outcry on social media in the preceding months.

At long last, Xbox players finally got access to Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, thanks to Capcom secretly rolling out the game on the Microsoft Store. Coming nearly five months after its release on other platforms, the collection is currently also available for a discounted price of $39.99, down from its original price of $49.99. Keeping in mind Xbox Series consoles' backwards-compatibility, the Xbox One version of the game can also be purchased and played on its current-gen counterpart. Although the fighting game is now digitally available on Xbox, its physical edition remains exclusive to PlayStation and Switch gamers, which may not fully satisfy those Xbox owners who prefer owning games in the traditional disc format.

Marvel vs. Capcom Collection Hits Xbox Amid Hopes of More Releases in the Crossover Series

Being a long-running franchise that kicked off with X-Men vs Street Fighter in 1996, Marvel vs. Capcom has moved millions of copies over the nine games released under the banner so far. As a result, the crossover series is popular with multiple generations of players and thus holds immense potential for IP owner Capcom to make the most of and it seems like the prolific fighting game developer may be thinking about doing just that. Notably, in July 2024, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics co-producer hinted at the "big plans" the gaming giant has for the future of the series.
