Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has added a ton of new features and gameplay mechanics that the previous two Insomniac Marvel games didn't withhold, making the sequel to Marvel's Spider-Man all the better. With so many new additions, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 can feel overwhelming at times. Beginners can miss important things, or even worse, dismiss them purposefully.

There are plenty of mobility options, collectibles to find, missions to take on, and locations to explore. For the best Marvel's Spider-Man 2 experience and to get a grasp over the title as best as they can, players will want to avoid making amateur mistakes that may cost them any beneficial factors that make Marvel's Spider-Man 2 such an enthralling video game.

7 Always Fast-Traveling Throughout New York City

Miles Morales falling in NYC

Like in the previous titles, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 grants players the ability to fast-travel between the different districts across New York City. This fast-travel mechanic is seamless, and appears as if it doesn't take any time to load. However, constantly fast-traveling around New York City has a big cost: the loss of collectibles, hidden missions, secrets, and overall the feeling of being Spider-Man.

The Best Marvel Games That Aren't Insomniac's Spider-Man Universe

Insomniac's Spider-Man series has been a triumph, but this is hardly the first time Marvel has had success in the video game industry.

After all, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 equips players with a large arsenal of mobility tools to get across New York City more easily than ever before. Gamers should take advantage of the wind tunnels that they can spot in different locations. Flying through these with Spider-Man's wings will shoot them across districts in a matter of seconds. While flying/swinging around New York, different items will become more prominent as well, helping fans get closer to 100% in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

6 Not Upgrading the Spider-Men

Suit Upgrades for peter and miles

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has a ton more upgrade options for Miles Morales and Peter Parker than the previous games had. Players can access different skills unique to Peter and Miles, a shared skillset between the two Spider-Men, upgrades for the Spider-Men's suits, and even new upgrades for their different gadgets.

For those just starting, all of these upgrades can feel a little much. However, they're all important to progressing through Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Skill points should be spent on Spider-Man skills, and Tech Parts/Hero Tokens/Rare Tech Parts/City Tokens should be spent purchasing upgrades for suits and gadgets. These promotional features will help the Spider-Men dish out more damage, stay alive longer, and string along combos to take out multiple enemies.

5 Dismissing Optional Quests and Collectibles

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 wouldn't be complete without a city to save. While progressing through the main game, players will be able to access more and more side activities to partake in when swinging around NYC. It's easy for fans to forget about these side quests when running through the main story, but they're all important.

Completing all the EMF Experiments around NYC will grant Peter a snazzy new suit (and a Spider-Man 2 Trophy).

Side quests don't just \provide wonderful rewards. They're also just amazing to play and have unique gameplay features, such as Miles' Graffiti FNSM app mission that lets fans play as Hailey. Collectibles in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 are just as important. Obtaining a full set will reward players immensely, usually with a brand-new suit, like when completing Miles' BV missions.

4 Not Personalizing The Experience

Various gameplay settings

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has a fascinatingly intricate 'settings' system that allows players to customize their experience as much as they'd like. When opening the 'settings' menu, fans will be greeted with various modifiers, accessibility options, and visual options to check out.

Though players can ultimately change their difficulty setting, going into the settings menu allows them to nitpick their modifiers, such as quick-time events being autocompleted, puzzles being simplified, auto-heal being an option, and much more. Gamers can even change the speed at which the game plays out, making for some excellent slow-motion photo mode shots. After unlocking Peter's Spider-Man Noir suit, players can even choose to have their character swing around in Into the Spider-Verse's famous FPS, as well as having sound effects comically appear on-screen.

3 Avoiding Learning True Combos

Combos in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 are more important than ever. They play a role in damage, Focus, abilities, and gadgets all at once. After progressing through Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and obtaining more and more upgrades, players will be capable of performing some heavy combos on their unlucky foes. With the right investments, combos can even reward players with bonus Focus, a gadget refill, and some charge to their different abilities.

With all that said, it's a good idea for players to take the time and figure out combos that work for the two Spider-Men. It's not a difficult feat, but there are a lot of moves that both Peter and Miles can learn throughout their skill trees, making combos a complexity in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

In both Marvel's Spider-Man and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, stealth was pretty easy. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has leaned toward an element of further challenge, as the sequel makes it easier for enemies to spot Spider-Man from above. When taking on missions or crimes that allow players to combat their enemies in stealth, it's important to note what works best in what situation.

For example, players should take note of objects that can be used to lure enemies away from certain positions, different rooms and the number of opponents in them, spots where Spider-Man can lay out a Web Line, and places to run to avoid catching attention. When they have a choice, players may want to use Miles Morales for stealth-based missions since the second Spider-Man can turn invisible for a short time.

1 Take Advantage of all the Spider-Men's Tools

As written above, the Spider-Men have access to a wider arsenal of tools and abilities than ever before. Players will have their hands full with upgrading their gear and learning new moves. Seeing as there are so many skills, abilities, gadgets, and promotional upgrades to get into, some of them may get left in the dust while enjoying the game.

Of course, Miles and Peter have no problem taking out enemies without most of their gear, but using their gadgets and abilities makes it much easier. Most notably, Spider-Man's gadgets make it simpler to combo criminals and set up their opponents for other moves. Abilities are also magnificent moves to utilize in a mission with many enemies around, as they make it easier to take out opponents and also have the capability of hitting multiple enemies.
