- Still, whether players want something more traditional or a bold, original design, the latest suit drop for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has them covered.
Nearly eight months after release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 fans are getting their hands on some new suits for both Peter and Miles. These suits consist of a number of fan favorites from Insomniac’s previous two entries in its critically acclaimed Spider-Man series, along with a few original designs from various influencers and community members. And while fans are happy to be getting some more content for the game, these new outfits come as something of a double-edged sword.
The news of the suits’ arrival in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 as well as their designs have been met with some apprehension by the community, with most of the discourse focused on the creator-designed suits. But with the return of some of the most beloved costumes from both of the previous Marvel's Spider-Man titles, the update means that there’s something for everyone.
New Spider-Man 2 Update Out Now
The latest Marvel's Spider-Man 2 update is now live, bringing with it a variety of new and returning alternate suits alongside other improvements.
The New Suits in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Are Sparking a Mixed Response
The completely new suits added to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are primarily the brainchildren of fashion designer Colm “KidSuper” Dillane with celebrity collaborators Vini Jr., Lando Norris, and Rina Sawayama. There are two suits each for both Miles and Peter. The designs are fresh, with lots of bold colors that really set the suits out from the rest of the in-game selection, which mostly features variations of the classic Spider-Man skin-tight suits with red, black, white, and blue color schemes. These additional suits eschew tradition for bright, vibrant greens and purples and various additions to the OG spandex like jackets and coats.

The new celebrity designed suits, while providing a fresh, new take on the classic Spider-Man look, may be too much of a departure for some. Fans have been divided on these latest additions to their wardrobe options almost as much as they were on Miles' controversial endgame suit from the campaign. The most common opinion is that the new suits are much too busy visually when compared to the streamlined simplicity of the old red and blue tights.
The returning spider suits include Peter’s Last Stand suit, Peter’s Into the Spider-Verse suit, Miles’ Animated suit, and Miles’ Uptown Pride suit. Fan reaction to these suits' return has been much more universally praised, as these suits have been community darlings since their initial appearances in previous entries in the series. Though some have been vocal in wondering why these did not make the base game roster of Spider-Man suits.
The Future of Suits in Marvel's Spider-Man 2
The most recent suit additions have something for just about every taste. The new celebrity designed outfits offer something really flashy, new and exciting for players looking to really shake up their next playthrough, whereas the returning suits bring a little bit of that extra variety for players preferring Spidey’s more familiar looks. The Into the Spider-Verse suit for Peter is especially exciting, as it will finally allow for both Spider-Men to wear their looks from that movie. Combined with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s frame rate option, players can faithfully recreate the look and feel of the beloved animated adventure.
Though this is purely speculation, these may not be the last of the new suits for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Things have been quiet on the DLC front for the massively successful game, but the massive data breach from last November suggested that some content focused on the Beetle could release. While the leaks once included a post-game story focused on a Carnage tease, that has likely been scrapped due to the in-development Venom spin-off, but the fate of the Beetle DLC is unclear. It’s worth noting that the original Marvel’s Spider-Man got additional suits with every story-based DLC, so players can expect some more outfits for Peter and Miles when/if a paid expansion drops for the game.
