A Mass Effect player has shown off a hilarious wardrobe malfunction that their Commander Shepard has been having throughout their playthrough. Despite the serious tone of the Mass Effect trilogy, this issue could definitely detract away from that at the worst of times.
Commander Shepard is the lifeblood of the Mass Effect franchise, with many unable to see a strong future for the franchise without their return. Eleven years since the character last appeared in a new release, gamers continue to clamor for any indication that Shepard will be making a return in the upcoming Mass Effect 4. It doesn't seem likely at this point, but with Liara already confirmed, anything is possible.
Redditor Lolman-Lmaoman posted about their issue, in which Shepard continues to only appear in their underwear no matter what armor they gave him. Most in the thread found the situation so funny that they couldn't bring themselves to figure out a solution. One player even said, "I'd love to help, but this situation appears to be the best possible outcome." If this was a real feature, there's no denying that this could change the romance options available in Mass Effect substantially.
A couple of players in the thread were able to offer a genuine solution to the hilarious issue that the user was having. According to them, the problem is likely due to a mod causing the default casual outfit to be set to underwear. This means that whenever Shepard is supposed to be in their casual outfit, he instead defaults to his underwear. In some of the more serious moments of Mass Effect's story, this could definitely cause some unintentional and inappropriate laughter. Modding in any game is always a risk, and can have some unintentional side effects.
Gamers are hoping that 2023 will be the year that more news begins to drop about the long-awaited next entry into the franchise. Teasers for Mass Effect 4 have already been released, but they've been few and far between, not giving away much about the game. Fans online have taken to rampant speculation, which can only be subsided with some more solid information about the game. The series has faced a hiatus over the last few years, after Mass Effect: Andromeda failed to impress fans with a broken launch way back in 2017. However, the success of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition has given BioWare another chance to revive the franchise.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
