McDonald's is officially bringing back its popular Monopoly event for a limited time, though the fast food chain's game will be more limited than its previous iterations. The iconic fast-food chain has often brought a variety of different brands and franchises for promotions, both through its Happy Meal toys and different special events. McDonald's made waves last year when it launched a limited-time promotional event with Genshin Impact, and Pokemon has been a mainstay of the fast-food restaurant's collaborations. Now, McDonald's is bringing back one of its most beloved collaborations.

The Monopoly tie-in has long been one of the most iconic McDonald's collaborations, giving fans the chance to win big prizes or free food. McDonald's has been running its Monopoly promotion event on and off since 1987, tasking fans with collecting different game pieces by ordering specific food items. The promotion has seen an extended hiatus in the United States, though, with McDonald's last running its Monopoly games in the U.S. In 2018. Now, the fast food titan has officially confirmed that McDonald's Monopoly is returning worldwide, though with an important catch.

McDonald's Issues Apology to Pokemon Fans

McDonald's apologizes to Pokemon fans for a recent promotion that has ended on day one at many of the fast-food chain's locations.

As reported by Dexerto, McDonald's has officially confirmed the long-awaited return of the Monopoly promotion, launching next month. The new Monopoly event at McDonald's will be exclusively available through the fast food restaurant's mobile app, with players able to earn either physical or digital game pieces by using the app. Players can scan the physical pieces into the app to claim their rewards, with some of the biggest prizes available including a vacation package worth $50,000 and a $10,000 shopping spree. McDonald's will officially launch its newest Monopoly promotion on October 6, with fans able to pre-register for bonus rewards points now.

McDonald's Is Bringing Back its Monopoly Event

The return of the McDonald's Monopoly event comes as McDonald's has experienced several recent issues with some of its bigger collaborations. Pokemon has been the source of some of the biggest McDonald's controversies, with special trading card packs leading to scalpers over-ordering to re-sell the Pokemon packs. McDonald's even placed several restrictions on its most recent Pokemon event in Japan, with customers only able to purchase three Happy Meals per group. McDonald's even issued an apology to fans over the Pokemon collaboration selling out on Day 1 at several stores.

The many McDonald's collaborations have also led to some more unusual tie-ins with the beloved fast-food brand. McDonald's China officially launched a tie-in event with Game Science's Black Myth: Wukong to launch a special event in the developer's home region, featuring special items including a burger with a black bun. McDonald's is even launching a limited-edition Black Myth: Wukong board game as part of the collaboration. The return of McDonald's Monopoly next month will bring back one of the chain's most beloved events for a limited time.
