McDonald's is bringing back its popular Pokemon card promotion for 2023, giving fans of the franchise the chance to collect 15 more Pokemon cards. McDonald's and Pokemon have teamed up multiple times in the past, with the promotions usually revolving around the Pokemon trading card game.

For the past couple of years, McDonald's has hosted special Pokemon trading card promotions in the summer. These promotions have bundled Pokemon cards in Happy Meals, with fans challenged to collect them all. There's always been a great deal of interest in these promotions, with supplies selling out and the Pokemon cards ending up on eBay for ridiculous prices.

Now it seems that McDonald's is bringing back Pokemon cards for 2023. As reported by Poke Beach, McDonald's restaurants in Germany and Austria are expected to add Pokemon cards to Happy Meals as early as July 27, with the promotion starting in the UK on August 23. A release date for the US and other countries has not been announced at the time of this writing, but chances are good that the Pokemon cards will return to McDonald's Happy Meals in the US at some point in August. The cards in question are Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, Cetoddle, Cetitan, Pikachu, Pawmi, Kilowattrel, Flittle, Sandaconda, Klawf, Blissey, Tandemaus, Cyclizar, and Kirlia.

As revealed by the Poke Beach report, each Happy Meal purchase will get customers four cards, including one holo. The six holo cards are said to be Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starters Sprigaito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, as well as Cetitan, Pikachu, and Klawf, meaning customers will have to buy a minimum of six Happy Meals if they hope to collect all the cards. Of course, most McDonald's customers will likely have to buy a lot more than six Happy Meals if they want to collect all the cards in the latest McDonald's Pokemon card promotion.

The cards are based on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the latest main series Pokemon games to be released. Even though Pokemon Scarlet and Violet released last year, there's still good reason for this promotion. As it so happens, there are two Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC expansions set to launch later this year. Considering this, it makes a great deal of sense to get Pokemon Scarlet and Violet back in the public's mind by bringing back the popular McDonald's Pokemon promotion.
