You can create a new character and pick their gender and style before starting the game with your new protagonist. Unfortunately, it isn't made clear how to change your character's look or select a different gender if you come to have any regrets about their appearance. There's also no prompt to say you should make your decisions wisely.

Thankfully, there are some things you can do to make some adjustments to your character, but don't forget that this is a free-to-play game with a focus on microtransactions. How To Change Your Appearance In Mecha BREAK

As with a lot of free-to-play games, there are a lot of menus and screens to get your head around, and if you haven't played one before, Mecha BREAK's Access Terminal can be a bit intimidating and challenging to work around. Use the following steps to access your Pilots and change their appearance for free:

While exploring the base, enter the Tactical Station.
Then, open the Access Terminal.
In the secondary menu, access the Pilots section by pressing the RT button.
On the next screen, click on your Pilot and select edit.
Highlight and select edit on Preset 1.
You can now choose your style, outfit, and tattoos, and adjust your character's performance settings for the voice and victory animations.

Style

Editing your character's style lets you change their face, hair, body, and makeup to make them look like a completely different person again. However, they are locked to the gender you selected when starting the game.

Outfit

The outfit menu lets you change your character's clothing from a selection of items you've unlocked by completing challenges or purchasing with Corite via selling items in the Matrix Marketplace, unlocking chests, or microtransactions.

Tattoos

The tattoos section lets you add new tattoo designs for your characters and add accessories you've obtained.

New Presets

You can have up to three presets for your protagonist. You can unlock the other by earning Mission Tokens. Mission Tokens are earned in-game and are based on your character's performance.

How To Change Your Gender In Mecha BREAK

In Mecha BREAK, you have the option to select a pilot of the opposite gender from the Pilot menu. However, this feature must be unlocked by spending 680 Corite. While there are ways to earn Corite for free, this process is slower and is designed to encourage players to purchase Corite packs with real money. Once purchased, you can select their appearance, military background, face shape, hair, and more.
