Developer Amazing Seasun Games announced that players will soon be able to get their hands on an in-development version of multiplayer shooter Mecha BREAK in early August 2024 via an open beta test. Interested players can register for the Mecha BREAK beta test on PC, though Amazing Seasun is targeting both PC and current-generation consoles for release.
Though it's still in development, Mecha BREAK is riding high on the wave of enthusiasm for new mecha games that was kicked off by From Software's Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Armored Core 6's positive reception proved the potency of the market for games with great mecha customization options, and Mecha BREAK is set to step into that space while offering a robust set of multiplayer-oriented combat options for budding pilots and mecha gearheads.
Starting in early August, Amazing Seasun will give those fans a chance to get some more hands-on time with the game in its beta state. The developer said that following earlier Mecha BREAK closed beta test rounds, the game is ready for wider access via an open beta, scheduled for August 10 to 13, 2024, on the PC. A different, limited access beta test will take place earlier, from August 2 to 8. Players can visit the Mecha BREAK Steam store page to register for access to the limited test.
Mecha BREAK Open Beta Test Adds New Playable Mech
The Mecha BREAK open beta test will feature a number of changes and additions beyond what closed beta testers experienced earlier. The test will focus on Battlefield mode, a 6-versus-6 team activity. According to Amazing Seasun, the test will feature a new pilotable mech model, the Stego. In addition, Amazing Seasun will test other adjustments to the gameplay mechanics, including what it calls "significant" changes to the speed of in-game combat, which will accelerate the pace of Mecha BREAK's fights.
There are also a few limitations to the Mecha BREAK test. The testing servers will be reset for a short period between the limited and open access phases, and the servers themselves will be focused on players in the North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific regions. Access also requires the use of Steam and a PC, unlike the planned Mecha BREAK Xbox closed beta.
Those who want the earliest possible access to Mecha BREAK will want to join the limited access beta, but not everyone will receive a code. Amazing Seasun said that it will also award codes via the Twitch Drops system. Twitch Drops are an increasingly popular engagement tactic for developers, as players will gravitate to rewards for watching streams they might already have been interested in.
