Megabonk was launched on September 18, 2025, and it was an overnight success, quickly making its way up the charts on Steam. Players fell in love with the game's addictive gameplay loop and kept coming back for more, racking up dozens of hours within the first couple of weeks.
Luck and All Other Megabonk Stats, Explained
Here’s a brief explanation of all stats in Megabonk. Experiment and choose the ones that suit your playstyle.
While there is a lot of character and weapons to unlock and try out, there was also plenty of room for vedinad, Megabonk's developer, to expand, and the fanbase was eager to get more of the game. To their content, the first major content update was released on December 14. This article breaks down all the key features that were introduced to Megabonk in the Spooky update.
New Map
Graveyard Map
If there's one feature fans have been asking for the longest, it's definitely a new map. Megabonk launched in September with two maps: Forest and Desert. For the first three months, these were the only maps that gamers could play. So, even though there was an array of challenges to complete and items to unlock in Megabonk, players spent hours playing the same maps over and over again.
The Spooky update added a themed map called Graveyard. To complete Graveyard, gamers must make their way through the Crypt before the timer runs out, find the four crypt keys, and then defeat Big Bob, a mighty boss that can easily one-shot players.
New Weapon
Scythe Weapon
Many fans who have been playing since day one have already obtained all weapons in Megabonk. Thankfully, a new weapon was added in the Spooky update, so players can make unlocking it their next objective.
To obtain the Scythe in Megabonk, players have to kill Big Bob on the Graveyard map. However, as mentioned above, this is no easy feat, as he has a bulky health bar and powerful attacks that can eliminate the player almost immediately. The Scythe slashes enemies in a circle and has a charge attack that is activated whenever they kill Elite Enemies.
New Items
Old Mask, Pumpkin, Bob's Light, Snek, and Pot (stainless steel)
There are over 80 items in Megabonk, and many of them aren't available from the get-go. While it might've taken players longer to unlock all items compared to weapons and characters, players wanted to see more in Megabonk to see how much they would change up the game and influence the leaderboards.
The Spooky update introduced 5 items to Megabonk. Here is how to unlock them and what they do:

New Character
Roberto
During the first few months after Megabonk's launch, players only had access to two maps. However, they got to explore them with 20 different characters - each one having their own starting weapon and unique ability. This update was heavily focused on the spooky theme, hence its name, so it should be no surprise that the latest character to be added to the game is a ghost. His name is Roberto, and according to his description, he says he is able to float, but experts are still investigating this claim.
Roberto's starting weapon is the Scythe, so players will have to unlock the weapon before being able to claim him as a character. Additionally, they will also have to defeat Spooky Steve, which is the boss that spawns in the Crypt when players aren't able to leave before the timer runs out.
When gamers play as Roberto in Megabonk, they will receive the Hoarder ability, meaning they'll be granted a free chest every 60 seconds and be able to float ever so slightly.
More Achievements
A Reward for Your Efforts
Since more quests were added to Megabonk, players will also be able to unlock them as achievements on Steam. They will receive achievements for completing the main features added with the Spooky update, namely for unlocking the following:
- Graveyard map
- Bob's Light item
- Old Mask item
- Pumpkin item
- Snek item
- Roberto character
- Scythe weapon
Unlocking these features might be a bit of challenge, so it's definitely nice to get an achievement once it's done.
