Konami confirms that the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake will have the original voice cast will reprising their roles for this game. Of the many projects that were rumored to be in development at Konami, the most prevailing one was regarding a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. This is notably not only the earliest game in the franchise, but also arguably the most ground-breaking and memorable as well. It took until Sony's PlayStation Showcase to show off the MSG3 remake, complete with a teaser trailer for the game.The teaser trailer was light on details, mostly being a CG trailer about various aspects of Metal Gear Solid 3, such as the familiar dense jungle environment, the hazardous wildlife, and the first look at Naked Snake, the man who would later become Big Boss in the series. The game doesn't even have a release date yet, other than it being confirmed to be in development. However, Konami has released an official blog post on its website that goes over some things that weren't covered in this teaser trailer. Aside from clarifying what platforms it will be on and its title, one of these things was the reprisal of the original voice cast. According to Konami's press release, this remake will star the original voice actors, while also promising the same rich story and expansive environments that made the original game such a classic. This means that Naked Snake will once again be played by his original voice actor David Hayter, which many fans expressed their excitement to hear again. Hayter's voice for all iterations of Snake, including Naked Snake, is his most iconic role, with many being glad to see him return.
The last time that Hayter voiced the character was the Solid Snake skin in Super Bomberman R back in 2018. He also reprised his role for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, albeit through recycled voice clips from his performance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. This is also the first time since 2010 that Hayter has played Snake in the Metal Gear franchise, as he was replaced by Kiefer Sutherland for the Metal Gear Solid 5 duology and hadn't returned outside the aforementioned crossover appearances.
It's a little unclear if the reprisals are from new voice recordings, or if the game will retain the original voice tracks and performances of the characters from 2004. Hayter has yet to comment on the situation on Twitter as well. Hayter had hinted there was a Metal Gear Solid remake back in 2021, so it's a safe bet that he'll be reprising the role, either through archived audio or new ones. Regardless, many nostalgic fans were happy to hear him back as the iconic soldier.
