Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a faithful remake that keeps a lot of the original game's quirks intact, and that includes the choice of your favorite MGS game when starting a new save file. Metal Gear Solid Delta gives you the options from the original Snake Eater release, but it also adds the MGS games that came out in the years after, like Peace Walker and The Phantom Pain.

In the original version of Snake Eater, your chosen MGS game determined your starting bonus equipment. That's still the case in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but the items you get are different. The game also tells you what you'll get before you make your choice, so it's much easier to pick something that you know you'll use in Metal Gear Solid Delta.

Which MGS Game Should You Choose in Metal Gear Solid Delta?

Metal Gear Solid Delta I Like MGS Choice

When you start a new save file in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, you'll be asked which MGS game you like with eight options to choose from.

  1. I'm playing the MGS series for the first time!
  2. I like MGS 1!
  3. I like MGS 2!
  4. I like MGS 3!
  5. I like MGS 4!
  6. I like MGS: Peace Walker!
  7. I like MGS V!
  8. I like everything in the MGS series!

Depending on your choice, you will start the game with additional equipment in your inventory. The rewards are only uniforms and face paints, though, and they're really just for fun. Some of them have powerful additional effects, though, so you can make the game much easier if you choose the right MGS game.

Grenade Camo Pattern

Of these, the best choice is "I like everything in the MGS series!" Since it gives you the Grenade camo pattern. It's an outfit with a bunch of grenades painted onto it, but it gives you unlimited grenades while you're wearing it.

Metal Gear Solid Delta Grenade Camo

The other camo patterns you get from the MGS game choices are just cosmetic, with the exception of Mummy camo, which makes you resistant to serious injuries. To get the Mummy camo pattern, you have to choose "I'm playing the MGS series for the first time!" At the start of the game. Both the Mummy and Grenade camo patterns are incredibly helpful in Metal Gear Solid Delta, so you can't go wrong with either one.

You'll get access to the other camo patterns and face paints once you finish your first playthrough of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The game isn't very long, especially compared to more recent Metal Gear Solid entries like The Phantom Pain, so even a first-time run will only take 15–20 hours from start to finish, regardless of your chosen difficulty level and control settings.
