The Ver.2.0.0 update for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 has been released, bringing fixes and new graphics settings to some of the compilation's included titles. Developer and publisher Konami last dropped an update for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 in March.

Released in October 2023, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is a compilation that includes the first five mainline entries in Konami's series of acclaimed action-adventure stealth games, as well as the NES port of the original Metal Gear and its standalone sequel, Snake's Revenge. The collection has received several updates since its initial release, with the latest one introducing new graphics-related options to two particular titles.

The most notable additions found in the September 25 Ver.2.0.0 update for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 are the expanded screen settings for the HD editions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, both of which are widely regarded as being some of the best games in the Metal Gear franchise. Newly added resolution presets promise to significantly sharpen the two aforementioned titles' visuals through the use of upscaling, while extra customization options for keyboards, mice, and controllers will allow players to further adjust the parameters of their peripherals according to their preferences.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1's new update also fixes minor issues found in Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, but details regarding these changes were not mentioned in the patch notes. While it introduced support for Steam Trading Cards and Badges to the collection's three Metal Gear Solid titles as well, players don't need to update to Ver2.0.0 to unlock these features for the first game, according to Konami. As of writing, the latest patch is only available for the Steam version of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1.

Konami has confirmed that it has already started working on Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection's second volume. Learning from the troubled launch of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, longtime series producer Noriaki Okamura asked fans in a recently published interview to give the development team time to create the next compilation. The veteran Japanese game designer is also currently working on the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which, according to Sony, is set to come out in 2024. However, rumors suggest that this remake, titled Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, may be bumped to a 2025 release window instead.
