Braving the world of Euchronia solo can be tough, so you'll need your loyal companions to aid you in battle. As players progress through the story, they'll meet several characters who'll become their followers in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Each follower will have unique skills that will be effective against certain enemies in the game. So, meeting all the followers, and utilizing their particular archetype against enemies is one of the major gameplay mechanics of Metaphor: ReFantazio.

How to Level Up Followers (& Why)?

The Player Ranking Up Brigitta To Rank 4

Finding all the Followers isn't all that tough, as you'll unlock most of them along the path of the main story in Metaphor: ReFantazio. However, most of your gameplay will focus on leveling them up to access the stronger versions of their Archetype.

Simply engaging your Followers in conversations and completing their various favors will help you level them up to gain a huge advantage in combat, and even enjoy discounts at shops. They're often feeling especially chatty when you're traveling in the Gauntlet Runner.

If you receive an odd quest or two from them, try to complete it as quickly as possible. When you're visiting cities, you'll see the Follower icon (handshake) pop-up on the map. You'll also need to rank up your Eloquence, Imagination, Courage, Wisdom, and Tolerance stats in Metaphor: ReFantazio to engage in further conversations with your followers to rank them up.
