It’s become a trope in RPGs of the past decade, but Metaphor: ReFantazio has a cooking mechanic. Other notable cooking games include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Monster Hunter World, and Final Fantasy 15 with the latter in partial having some amazing-looking food graphically.
6 Common Mistakes To Avoid In Metaphor: ReFantazio
For those just starting their journey in Euchronia, these are the most common mistakes new players should avoid in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Players get to prepare two basic dishes in the first city, Grand Trad, within Metaphor: ReFantazio. Once the kingly tournament begins and players leave the capital, they can cook on their giant land-based vehicle called a Gauntlet Runner. They can pick up ingredients in dungeons, shops, or with a little fishing. Here are some of the best and how they can boost the party.
7 Finisher Noodles
Kill Enemies Instantly In The Field For 30 Seconds
- Ingredients: Brocaded Koi x1, Monster Bone x1, and Pristine Clearwater x3
The Finisher Noodles will help players in the field while fighting enemies. For those new to Metaphor: ReFantazio, the combat is different than most Atlus games like Persona. Most of the combat will be executed via traditional turn-based scenarios but if players get to a high enough level, they can attack and hurt enemies in the field, thus reducing the need for turn-based battles.
Now, the Finisher Noodles will give players the ability to kill enemies in a single hit for 30 seconds. Alternatively, the Invincible Noodles will make players immune for 60 seconds in the field.
6 Magical Bread
Recover MP For 60 Seconds In Dungeon
- Ingredients: Dreameater Moth x1, Rockbeans x2, and Mora Coney Meat x2
The Magical Bread is another field-based booster. It will recover MP for heroes while running around dungeons in Metaphor: ReFantazio but only for 60 seconds. Players don’t have to do anything else to recover MP.
Metaphor: ReFantazio - 7 Weapon Types That Make It Easier To Kill Enemies In The Field
Don’t be caught dead in a dungeon without these weapons.
MP is important for games like Persona and Metaphor: ReFantazio because they use magic as a way to weaken monsters and gain extra turns. So, the more ways players can recover MP while exploring, the better even if that just means running around in circles for a minute.
5 Almighty Golden Stew
Boost Attack/Defense/Hit/Evasion For Party For 3 Turns
- Ingredients: Limp Goldfish x1, Lumibee x1, and Mellow Milk x1
The Almighty Golden Stew is a great recipe to make before a boss battle in Metaphor: ReFantazio. It will increase many stats for combat including attack, defense, evasion, and hit.
Hit can sometimes be the most important stat in a boss battle because a lot of them will increase their evasion rates. Hit basically leads to solid accuracy and a good attack strength on top of that can lead to some good strikes. The Almighty Golden Stew will only last three turns, so players will have to make every action count for their party members.
4 Holistic Whitefish Platter
Heal The Party’s HP
- Ingredients: Gauntlet Shrooms x1, Limp Goldfish x2, and White Peach Turnip x2
The Holistic Whitefish Platter will heal the entire party’s HP. Items should be the secondary option for healing in Metaphor: ReFantazio. There are better spells for healing the party like Medica and it’s not too cost-heavy on the MP either.
However, not all characters can equip an Archetype, the class system of Metaphor: ReFantazio, with a healing spell attached even with Skill Inheritance. That’s why a dish like the Holistic Whitefish Platter is worth keeping around in a pinch.
3 Steadfast Stew
Prevent Death Once For 1 Ally
- Ingredients: Briny Salt x1, Giant’s Rib x1, and Pristine Clearwater x3
The Steadfast Stew is another healing dish, technically, but it’s a preemptive one and not one for the whole party. Whoever consumes this dish in battle will get a death-defying blow if an enemy or boss strikes hard. Instead of dying, the character will stand at the ready with a single HP left.
Now, if the enemy attacks this character again, that’s all she wrote. So, while not a perfect dish, it can sometimes be enough to get the upper hand in battle, so it’s best to save this one for boss encounters or optional hunts as part of Metaphor: ReFantazio’s many side quests.
2 Cursed Love Ballad
Restore 100 MP And Cure Hex For The Party
- Ingredients: Briny Salt x2, Dreameater Moth x1, and Rockbeans x2
The Cursed Love Ballad is a weird name for a dish to be sure, but it does make some sense. On top of healing the party for 100 MP apiece, this dish will get rid of the Hex status ailment. It’s a weird combo since Hex doesn’t specifically negate the party from using all forms of MP.
Metaphor: ReFantazio - Every Major Death, Ranked
You’ll shed a few tears and shout a few jeers at these deaths.
Also, there aren’t a lot of dishes that will heal MP, so even if the party doesn’t have Hex, players shouldn’t hesitate to use it if the party is in dire need of a magical boost. The Secretest of Secrets recipe is also worth keeping in mind because it will restore all MP but unfortunately only for one character.
1 Coney Stew
Heal The Party’s Status Ailments
- Ingredients: Briny Salt x2, Mellow Milk x2, and Mora Coney Meat x1
Finally, there is the Coney Stew which will do more than the Cursed Love Ballad. It will heal all status effects from Hex to Poison to Malady. There are fewer ways to heal status effects than HP through magic like Patra. Also, if a character can’t use magic then they will have to use items to heal status effects in Metaphor: ReFantazio. The Coney Stew just makes everything easier as worrying about the party’s status effects can be draining. That’s why it’s one of the better dishes in the game as all types of players can appreciate the boon this will bring to battle.
