Metaphor: ReFantazio - All Difficulty Settings And Differences
There are five difficulty settings in Metaphor: ReFantazio, each making the game progressively harder in certain ways. Here’s the breakdown.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is not a short game by any measure but it is considerably less daunting than Persona which players can easily finish in about 60 hours. As “short” as it is comparatively, there are still plenty of side quests to tackle too, and here are just a few great ones from the early hours.
6 Pagan’s Dilemma
Give A Mustari Man Some Fresh Air
- Rewards: Squire’s Bracelet, Increase Tolerance
- Location: Grand Trad
Pagan’s Dilemma should be one of the first side quests players take on. A Mustari Man will be waiting outside close to the Hushed Honeybee in Grand Trad. He simply wants players to get him a Breath of Fresh Air from the St. Fermis Church up the street.
For this simple task, players will be rewarded with an increase in their Tolerance levels. It’s one of the five Royal Virtues of the game which can help unlock other side quests as well as other bonuses. Besides that, they will get a Rusted Accessory which can appraised in Metaphor: ReFantazio shops to get the Squire’s Bracelet accessory which will increase Strength by 3 when equipped.
5 Help the Hushed Honeybee
Help Fabienne Cook At Night
- Rewards: 3 Magla Pills, Increase Wisdom, and $2,000
- Location: Grand Trad
Another simple side quest in Grand Trad is called Help the Hushed Honeybee. A Young Nidia Man is stressed that the inn’s owner, Fabienne, looks a bit overworked. This NPC wants players to help Fabienne cook at night which is a good introduction to the cooking mechanic in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Metaphor: ReFantazio - All Stats Explained
There are five stats for the protagonist and his companions to level up in Metaphor: ReFantazio; here's what each one does.
This side quest’s big reward is another bonus to Tolerance levels. There is a double dose of Tolerance rewards for this one though because any time players cook for Fabienne, they will get a Tolerance bonus. The 3 Magla Pills aren’t bad for a reward either because items that restore MP in the game are rare.
4 More’s Task: Foreword and Prologue
Unlock Portable Archetypes
- Reward: 3 Hero’s Incense, Increase Imagination, Linked Igniter, and Increase More’s Bond
- Location: Akademeia
More is an interdimensional being residing in a place called Akademeia. He is the first one to help Will, the canon name of the protagonist in Metaphor: ReFantazio, awaken and understand his Archetype. More is a Follower and the Follower system is like the Social Links system from other Persona games.
To increase his bond, players will have to raise Archetypes to certain levels. For example, More’s Task: Foreword and Prologue is his first task and all players have to do is get the Healer Archetype up to level ten. The biggest reward players will get for this is the Linked Igniter which will allow them to change Archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio without having to travel back to Akademeia every time.
3 Maneater Manjula, Fiend of the Wastes
A Good Opportunity To Grow Courage
- Rewards: Increase Courage and $10,000
- Location: Tradia Desert
Players can take on bounties in towns to hunt down wild monsters. For example, the first one they can take up in Metaphor: ReFantazio is called Maneater Manjula, Fiend of the Wastes wherein players will have to fight a beast called Maneater Manjula. The beast is located in the Tradia Desert which is the opening area players ran through after escaping the bandits.
While Maneater Manjula is intimidating, if players equip all three party members with Blizz, an ice-based spell, then they will have no issues. For defeating this monster, players can get an increase to their Courage Royal Virtue in the game along with the hefty sum of $10,000. Players should keep an eye out for other bounty opportunities as they pop up.
2 A Bullish Embargo
How To Unlock The Merchant Archetype
- Rewards: Pious Igniter, Increase Courage, $7,500
- Location: Belga Corridor
A Bullish Embargo will get players a very important Follower named Brigitta. She will be waiting around the magical accessory shop in Grand Trad and the only way to begin the side quest is to get their Wisdom to level two. Completing other side quests can help accomplish this, or there is a bench players can rest on near Brigitta that will boost Wisdom too.
Metaphor: ReFantazio - How To Level Up Archetypes Fast
Archetypes level up separately from your party members in Metaphor: ReFantazio; here's how to level up specific ones quickly.
Wisdom aside, Brigitta will give players the location of the Belga Corridor, a dungeon wherein a terrible monster named Grotesque Guptauros resides in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Brigitta wants it dead as a test of strength and if players pass, she will become a Follower. Not only that, but this bond will unlock a new archetype called Merchant.
1 A Dagger, A Ring, And A Rake
How To Unlock The Faker Archetype
- Rewards: Grius’s Memento, Increase Courage, $15,000
- Location: Abandoned Tomb
A Dagger, a Ring, and a Rake is another side quest in Metaphor: ReFantazio that will unlock a Follower along with a new Archetype. In Martira, players will be robbed of Grius’s Memento, and a nearby man, Cuculus, says he will help get it back for a price. He wants players to bring him back a rin with the Abandoned Tomb dungeon.
Once players return from this dungeon absolutely filled with treasure, and Mimic-like creatures called Imitecs, they will find out Cuculus’ true name is Alonzo. He grows respect for Will, so he joins as a Follower and bestows players with the Faker Archetype. While not initially the best Archetype, the daggers are fun to use during the action sequences of combat and there are other good rewards for this side quest too.
