One of the major aspects of Metaphor: ReFantazio is the journey the protagonist and party is going on throughout the kingdom during the Tournament for the Throne. This includes an in-game calendar that will have players juggling various activities that take up time, many of which take place only on the Gauntlet Runner.

Cooking is one of these pastimes, with players collecting ingredients and recipes throughout their journey. While you'll start seeing ingredients early into the game, you won't be able to cook right away, and even then the ability to cook is limited to only certain in-game days.

Metaphor: ReFantazio - All Stats Explained

There are five stats for the protagonist and his companions to level up in Metaphor: ReFantazio; here's what each one does.

How To Cook In Metaphor: ReFantazio

Players won't be able to cook until 6/24, the day the Tournament for the Throne officially begins and you get your Gauntlet Runner. On top of that, cooking can only be done when the Gauntlet Runner is active and running to a location. Players will be given lots of optional locations to explore during free time around each of the major cities throughout the game, and it's only during those trips that you'll be able to cook. Cooking is done in the kitchen in the Gauntlet Runner, which is the second door on the right when walking down the back hallway of the Runner.

When you first unlock cooking, it will take the entire day to cook whatever recipe you choose to make.

Where To Get Ingredients In Metaphor: ReFantazio

Various food ingredients can be random loot drops in dungeons or from monsters, but this is not a reliable way to get ingredients. Various ingredients can be purchased from merchants in towns that appear as a stall icon on the map, along with butchers that appear as a knife and meat icon. There are also water merchants and herb merchants, all of which sell various ingredients depending on the town you are in.

Ingredients can also be found by randomly checking the Pantry in the Gauntlet Runner, which is the door to the right of the kitchen. Some side quests also reward players with ingredients that usually focus on the unique ingredients of the region the player is currently in.

How To Unlock Speed Cooking In Metaphor: ReFantazio

The Player Reaching Rank 4 With Maria

Players can unlock speed cooking by reaching Rank 4 with Maria in Grand Trad. With speed cooking, cooking a recipe will no longer take an entire day, letting players do another activity on the Gauntlet Runner after cooking. Cooking will need to be the first activity you do, as other activities will immediately pass the time. While cooking doesn't take time, it can only be done once per day, still limiting how much cooking can be done in the game.
