More's quests in Metaphor: ReFantazio will prioritize finding and unlocking new families of Archetypes along with leveling them up to help players branch out and see what all is out there. While a lot of Archetypes are unlocked naturally by progressing the story, some can be missed if you don't know where to look.
Many of More's early quests will focus on players finding an unlocking those missable followers and their Archetypes, with his fourth request being another example. While the General isn't a tier-one Archetype, it does come from a family that some players may not have unlocked.

How To Unlock The General Archetype In Metaphor: ReFantazio
The General Archetype comes from the Commander Archetype family, which is from the follower Bardon. Bardon is the captain of the guard in Martira, and he can't be unlocked as a follower until after you catch the true culprit of the kidnappings in Martira. Once that story has been wrapped up, Bardon can be found in the main city square by the fountain, facing the path to go back to your gauntlet runner.
Once you've unlocked the Commander Archetype, you'll need to level it up to max rank which is level 20. You'll also need to get Bardon up to rank 3, at which point players will be able to awaken to the General with whichever party member has a max rank Commander. To finish More's request, you'll need to get the General to level 15, which can easily be done by:
- Defeating Elementa.
- Using Hero's Leaves Of Light.

The General Archetype is a healthy mix of offense and support, starting off with the very useful skill of Matarukaja which buffs your whole party's attack. It does learn the skill Icy Strike, Frigid Fortress Tactic, and Megido, offering decent offensive attacks should you need more firepower. Its other unique skill is Shelter Formation, which moves all allies to the backline and buffs their defense by two ranks, one of the few abilities to give multiple ranks at once.
What really makes this Archetype stand out is the Synthesis skill Assault Beacon, which buffs all stats for the whole party for three turns, and only costs 26 MP. For the middle section of the game, this is by far one of the best buff skills in the game, and well worth the extra Press Turn icon and MP to use.
Assault Beacon can be used with an ally Seeker, Knight, or Commander Archetype.
