The title, which follows a young boy as he attempts to become King of the medieval fantasy realm of Euchronia, has continued to see both commercial and critical acclaim, winning multiple Game of the Year awards and boasting an overall player rating of 100 on OpenCritic. The developers aren't finished with the game just yet, as a new update has just been released across all systems.

Version 1.11 of Metaphor: ReFantazio brings some changes to the game's menu options, making it easier for fans to navigate the title's many screens. Players on all platforms are now able to change their battle formation and swap party members from both the main menu and the equip screen. Additionally, when navigating to the item screen, a new function will let players jump to specific locations, potentially speeding up some of the minutiae of gameplay. A number of bug fixes have also been implemented on PC, including those relating to camera movement, frame rate, and controller inputs. Atlus continues to tweak Metaphor: ReFantazio with these smaller patches, with the team seeming dedicated to providing players with the best possible experience.

Given its incredibly positive reception, questions relating to a potential Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel have begun to pop up, with the game's director recently commenting on the possibility. According to Katsura Hashino, while no concrete sequel plans exist at this moment in time, he hopes that this will change in the future. In an interview with Weekly Famitsu, Hashino explained that he created Metaphor: ReFantazio in the hopes that it would someday stand alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei as its own fully fledged JRPG series.

While a second Metaphor: ReFantazio title isn't currently in the cards, fans are expecting to hear some long-awaited news from Atlus sometime soon. 2025 will mark the ninth anniversary of Persona 5, and many are beginning to wonder when Persona 6 will be revealed. With the release of Metaphor catapulting the company to new heights of success, many fans believe that to keep the momentum going, announcing a new entry in the studio's flagship series is the perfect move.
