To unlock a Royal Archetype, you'll first need to reach the max rank of that follower by spending free time with them. Once they are ready to receive their Heroic Embodiment and have the Grand Fantasy perk, you'll need to progress the game all the way to 9/25. This is the day the protagonist awakens to his ultimate Archetype and is done through the story and can't be missed. After unlocking this Archetype, progress a bit further into the game until you get free time again and head to Akademia.
Once there, More will give you a breakdown of Royal Archetypes, which are a unique Archetype that each party member can learn that is the ultimate Archetype of their original lineage. You'll need to level up multiple Archetypes in order to summon a Royal Archetype, with the exact requirements varying from person to person.
