A year has passed since the release of Metro Exodus, developed by 4A Games and published by Deep Silver, meaning that the title is no longer an exclusive to the Epic Games Store on PC. With this change, gamers who would prefer to purchase Metro Exodus  through applications like Steam or Humble Bundle are now free to do so.

While Exodus was made available on consoles like PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia, quite a bit of controversy was raised last year when it was announced that the Epic Games Store would be the only way of buying the game on PC for a year. However, that rocky, initial chapter of the game's lifespan has come to a close with its increased availability on more platforms.

In terms of gameplay, Metro Exodus  is a first-person shooter, with a strong emphasis on stealth and survival horror. The story takes place over the course of a year, with players exploring the post-apocalyptic nuclear wastes of what was formerly Russia. Leaving the confines of the Moscow Metro system and its relative shelter, players can expect to encounter a variety of horrifyingly mutated abominations, in addition to groups of equally brutal humans, both of which will need to be dispatched with whatever sparse resources are on hand.

Despite the substantial amount of initial outrage at the game's initial exclusivity, Metro Exodus  seems to have done quite well for itself in terms of sales. Even on Steam, where a lot of early frustrations took place, Exodus has been getting relatively high reviews. While this is no doubt in part because only people who've bought a game can review it on Steam, the general consensus seems to be that the wait was worth it.

For those who have been waiting to purchase Exodus  on Steam in particular, it should be noted that its currently on sale until 6 PM UTC on February 18th, 2020. The game is 40% off, bringing the price for the standard edition down from $39.99 to $23.99.

Metro Exodus is by no means the only timed Epic Games Store exclusive. As the year goes on, a decent list of other games, including The Outer WorldsThe Sinking City, and potentially Borderlands 3, should also be receiving this same expansion of availability.

Metro Exodus is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
