Summary

  • Metroid Prime 4: Beyond's first trailer showcased stunning visuals and new gameplay mechanics, honoring its roots.
  • Fans eagerly await more information on the game's next trailer, and though there is no official info on a release date for it, it would make perfect sense to release the next trailer alongside the Switch 2's announcement.
  • Nintendo's next console, the Switch 2, is highly anticipated, and with hopes for a Metroid Prime 4 special edition bundle, showing the game again alongside the new console would make perfect sense.

After over seven years since its announcement, the highly anticipated sequel to the Metroid Prime trilogy, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, has finally received a tentative release window, along with its very first trailer. The trailer features massively improved visuals from the original Metroid Prime trilogy, as well as fresh gameplay mechanics that still honor their roots. Currently, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is slated to be released sometime in 2025, although it's perfectly understandable that nobody would hold their breath after the extensive wait between its announcement and reveal. However, once its next trailer is revealed, then might be a good time to get one's hopes up for the game's actual release — especially since it is likely to announce a concrete release date.

Not much is known about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, including when its next trailer might drop. That being said, Nintendo still has one other major announcement to make that it has already confirmed a window for, and it would make sense for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond's next trailer to be included in that announcement. As such, fans may not have to wait much longer to hear more about the next installment in the beloved Metroid Prime series.

Nintendo Should Release the Next Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Trailer Alongside the Switch 2 Announcement

Nintendo Will Be Announcing the Switch 2 By March 2025

The Nintendo Switch is the company's best-selling home console, with over 141 million units shipped worldwide as of March 2024. It is also the third best-selling console of all time, largely due to its massively successful exclusives, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and many more. In light of that, it's safe to say the world has been awaiting news about the Switch's successor, especially with other, more powerful consoles threatening to take the lead in the console war. Thankfully, that time may almost be here.

Nintendo has officially confirmed that its next console will be announced "within the fiscal year," which means fans can expect a reveal by March 31, 2025 at the latest. At the time of writing, this is a fairly large window, so it's possible the Switch 2 could even be unveiled much earlier. The first Switch was announced in October 2016 and released in March 2017, and the Switch 2 could very well follow the same pattern. That being said, Nintendo is likely to wait until the last minute to release its next console, as it knows how high expectations are for it.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond's Next Trailer Should Arrive By March 2025 With the Switch 2 Announcement

Whether Nintendo announces the Switch 2 now or chooses to wait until March 2025, it should include the next trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in the announcement, along with an official release date for the game. It already seems like Metroid Prime 4 will be a cross-platform game, since the Switch 2 may be launching so close to it. If so, it would make sense for Metroid Prime 4 to get some more much-needed attention alongside the long-awaited Switch 2 announcement. This would help stir excitement for both the game and the console, and even more so if there ends up being a Metroid Prime 4 special edition Switch 2 bundle offered.

When it is unveiled, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond's next trailer is going to be a big one. Not only will it presumably include a release date for the game, but it will also likely feature an extensive gameplay walkthrough, quite possibly with a narrated breakdown of what's being shown in the trailer. Nintendo has held onto Metroid Prime 4 for too long now, and it knows how valuable it is to fans. As such, there's no better spot for its next trailer than right next to the Switch 2 announcement.
