Metroid Prime 4: Beyond features numerous upgrades throughout the exotic alien world of Viewros, with many such secrets hidden or inaccessible, waiting for you to return with the required ability unlock. One such ability you'll gain early on is being able to deploy little concussive bombs while in Morph Ball form.
This ability is called Psychic Bombs in Metroid Prime 4, and it's unlocked not long after earning the Control Beam ability, navigating through an ancient temple in the Fury Green region, and defeating the temple's final boss fight. This guide details when and where you'll be able to unlock this new ability, along with a few other key pieces of info surrounding the temple itself.
Cross the Infinity Bridge & Enter the Temple
After you rescue Federation Engineer and resident chatterbox, Myles MacKenzie, make your way through Fury Green until you reach a massive bridge spanning the jungle. You might have seen this bridge in the distance during your excursion through Viewros, but once you find the entrance, your path is straightforward.
Don't expect a casual jaunt to the temple across the bridge. As you make your way to the other side, you'll be attacked by several waves of Jungle Grievers. Myles is pretty useless here, but Samus is more than a match for these beasts.
Naviate Through the Fury Green Temple
Once in the temple, you'll earn the Control Beam ability, which allows Samus to fire off a beam you can control separately as time slows to a crawl. This is mainly used as a way to navigate certain puzzles found in the temple (and beyond).
Use your Psychic Glove and Control Beam powers to bypass sealed doors in your path until you reach the Base Camp location. When you first enter the Base Camp, Myles will take an interest in the Lamorn Control System just off to the left. You'll find a few non-functional doors as well, but first, head off through the eastern doorway to find a save room.
Once you return, interact with the console to initiate a short cutscene. Myles will explain more of the tech, you'll share language data with him, and he'll be able to partially unseal the door heading deeper into the temple.
The door unlocking mechanism isn't working from this side of the room, but you can fire a Control Beam through the hole in the wall beside it to activate the door from the other side.
Head through the doors until you reach a Morph Ball entrance, then wind your way through the small tunnel to the far side.
Beyond, you'll reach a room with two statues flanking a central access node. Scan one of the statues to get a short cutscene that will provide information on the Green Energy Crystals you'll be collecting throughout the game.
Green Energy Crystals are important! Make sure to collect them as often as possible to lessen a potential endgame grind.
In the large room beyond, the Ceremonial Chamber, you'll find a raised pressure plate overlooking a small pond. Standing on the pressure plate will activate three nodes situated around the water's edge. Use your Control Beam to strike each node on the path, which will unseal the room on the far side.
The room on the left here, the Sanctum of the Guardians, is worth returning to after the temple's boss fight in order to gain some additional lore about the boss and the setting.
Continue heading into the next room, using your Psychic Glove ability, and then beyond the next set of doors to enter the temple's boss fight: Carnax.
Defeat Carvex to Unlock Psychic Bombs
Once you enter the chamber, a short cutscene will play, revealing the giant flora boss, Carvex. In order to defeat this boss, you'll need to make use of your Control Beam power to repeatedly destroy its tendrils.
For a more detailed breakdown of the Carvex boss fight, please refer to our Carvex boss fight guide.
Once the boss is defeated, you can claim the Psychic Bombs power-up, allowing you to deploy up to three Morph Ball bombs at a time. These can be used to unlock new routes or secrets, and they can be used to give yourself an extra bounce up while in Morph Ball form.
The way you came in will still be sealed, so you'll need to use your newly acquired ability to exit the side of the room via a small passage just large enough for your Morph Ball form to fit through—though you'll need to use a Psychic Bomb to destroy a blockage in your path.
Proceed through the Morph Ball passage, blowing up obstacles in your way. This path will deposit you back in the Ceremonial Chamber. From here, make your way back to Base Camp.
On the way, during the next small Morph Ball segment (Broken Hall), keep an eye out for a weakpoint to destroy with your Psychic Bombs. Inside, you'll find a missile upgrade.
From here, simply return to Myles MacKenzie at Base Camp (the next room) to learn your next steps in Metroid Prime 4 Beyond.
