At the beginning of Monster Hunter Wilds' fourth chapter, players will undertake a quest called "New Ecosystems" that centers around a visit to the Scarlet Forest. As part of this visit, players must capture a Yian Kut-Ku, though the way that is done may not be immediately obvious. Indeed, players may be confused about how they are to go about capturing the Yian Kut-Ku in Monster Hunter Wilds, and this guide is here to alleviate that confusion.
Yian Kut-Ku is certainly not the only monster that can be captured in Monster Hunter Wilds, and players may want to try the method that is detailed in this guide at the end of some of their other hunts.

How to Capture the Yian Kut-Ku in Monster Hunter Wilds
Weaken the Yian Kut-Ku
The first step towards capturing the Yian Kut-Ku is weakening it, and players should pull out their favorite weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds and start attacking. As with the game's other monsters, this assault will ultimately cause the Yian Kut-Ku to change locations, and players should hunt it until it reaches its final position. Players will know that the monster has reached its final position when a white skull appears next to its icon on the map, and the presence of that icon indicates that the Yian Kut-Ku is weak enough to be captured.
Move the Requisite Items to the Item Bar
At this point, Alma will have provided the players with items that can be used to capture the Yian Kut-Ku. Those items are EZ Shock Traps and EZ Tranq Bombs, and they can be found within the Seikret Pouch. To use those items, players must transfer them from the Seikret Pouch to the Item Pouch, and here is how that is done:
- Mount the Seikret by pressing up on a D-pad or Tab on a keyboard.
- View the Seikret Pouch by pressing left on a D-pad or N on a keyboard.
- Highlight the EZ Tranq Bombs in the Seikret Pouch and press the "Receive" input to move them to the Item Pouch.
- Highlight the EZ Shock Traps in the Seikret Pouch and press the "Receive" input to move them to the Item Pouch.
If a player cannot find the EZ Tranq Bombs or EZ Shock Traps in the Seikret Pouch, they should consider crafting the items. To craft those items, players should return to Base Camp, enter the Tent, select "Crafting List" from the Item Menu tab, and navigate to Shock Traps (045) and Tranq Bombs (046). Notably, the 
Trap Tool that are used to craft Shock Traps can be purchased from the Provisions Stockpile NPC in camp.
Capture the Yian Kut-Ku
Players should now make their way to the Yian Kut-Ku's final position, browse through the Item Bar in the bottom-right corner of the screen to select the Shock Traps, and place the trap at the monster's feet. Once the monster has become immobilized by the trap, players should quickly browse through the Item Bar to select the Tranq Bombs and repeatedly throw those items at the Yian Kut-Ku's feet to complete the capture and this main quest in Monster Hunter Wilds.
