Microsoft Flight Simulator is one of the oldest gaming franchises, with the first game in the series being released in 1982. Over a dozen entries have been released over the last four decades, and games such as the 2020 version of Microsoft Flight Simulator are often considered among the best flight simulation games of all time. Due to this history, the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on November 19 was eagerly awaited by countless fans of the genre.

Discover answers to burning questions about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, including new features, system requirements, and gameplay innovations.

Unfortunately, gamers were met with a very disappointing launch, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 currently boasts an “Overwhelmingly Negative” score on Steam, with only 17% of all gamers giving the title positive marks. As stated by many reviewers, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 launched with major game-breaking problems. Reports include long queues of over 30 minutes to play and server issues, such as the game being stuck at 97% while loading. Gamers who were actually able to play have also reported that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has very intensive GPU utilization and one aircraft is missing from their library. The server problems appear to be the same on Xbox consoles.

Countless Fans Are Unable to Play Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

Due to these issues, Microsoft Flight Simulator’s head Jorg Neumann, and developer Asobo Studio’s CEO Sebastian Wloch recently released a “Launch Day Update” video, apologizing to the community and explaining the situation. According to them, the studio acknowledges the issues and is currently working to solve them. Problems such as the long queues have been caused by the server cache struggling to keep up with high demand. Before launch, the developers tested the servers with up to 200,000 users, but the numbers have proven to be much higher at release.

It’s certainly disappointing for fans to see such an eagerly awaited Xbox console exclusive failing at launch. Hopefully, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will solve the most pressing server issues and allow gamers to play without problems soon.

Luckily, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is not the only Microsoft console exclusive just hitting the market, with the other high-profile title released this month seems to be faring much better. STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been receiving positive reviews, with its immersive and seamless open world being praised by most critics.
