Microsoft officially unveiled Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 during Sunday's Xbox Games Showcase, showing off the breathtaking landscapes in the sequel to one of 2020's hottest games. The previous Microsoft Flight Simulator took the world by storm in 2020 following its launch, riding a wave of positive reviews for its impressive graphics and realistic settings. The 2020 flight simulator won "Best Sim/Strategy Game" at the 2020 Game Awards and even saw nominations at the next year's show. Now, a new entry in the long-running franchise is on the way.

While Microsoft Flight Simulator exploded in popularity with its 2020 entry, the franchise has been one of the gaming juggernaut's longest-running series. The franchise began in the early 1980s, simply referred to as Flight Simulator 1.0, for the IBM PC. The franchise has seen more than ten entries largely as a PC exclusive, with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 becoming the first game in the franchise to release on console. Now, a brand-new flight simulator is coming to PC and Xbox consoles later this year.

Microsoft officially revealed Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 during the Xbox Games Showcase, showing off the stunning views within the game. Flight Simulator 2024 will offer players a variety of different ways to play the game, between commercial flights, air ambulances, remote cargo ops and plenty more. The trailer shows off some of the most iconic landmarks players can find within the game, from the Eiffel Tower to the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro. Asobo Studio also confirmed the release date for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, with the game set to launch on PC, Xbox consoles, and Game Pass on November 19.

Microsoft Shows Off Stunning Flight Simulator 2024 Trailer

The trailer introduces a multitude of different aerial vehicles players will be able to pilot within Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Alongside the standard planes players can take on their global travels, players will also have the option to operate cargo planes, helicopters, and hot air balloons among others. Flight Simulator 2024 also revealed that players will be able to land within the game, showcasing one particular scene with the player photographing a moose in the forest.

The highly-anticipated launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 comes as Flight Simulator 2020 has received regular updates since its release. Microsoft and Asobo Studio would add a variety of planes and helicopters to the game following its initial release, as well as several historical airplanes for players to pilot. Flight Simulator 2020's 40th anniversary update even added the ability for players to play older Flight Simulator games when using a specific plane. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 looks to take players on another breathtaking adventure around the world.
