While not reducing the overall possible points that can be earned, this change makes it more of a grind to max out, potentially leaving some gamers looking into how to cancel an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
This change comes on the heels of Xbox Game Pass quests getting another major downgrade last November, and plenty of subscribers are already voicing their anger about these latest changes online. On Reddit, some are saying that it will now be too much of a hassle to maximize their quest points and others are suggesting, with considerable frustration, that this is an effort by Microsoft to save money by preventing most subscribers from earning all the possible rewards. All together, this does not appear to be a popular move by Xbox.
To be fair, this update does not change the rewards that can be earned or prevent players from earning all the possible points each week and month. Game Pass does also continue to provide access to some popular games. There were plenty of amazing Xbox Game Pass games in 2023, and 2024 looks to have a solid selection as well. Still, by changing quests from a fun and rewarding diversion to a daily chore, Microsoft may be losing some support from fans.
