Minecraft Dungeons, which combines Diablo-style gameplay with the aesthetic of Minecraft, is now available to the masses. While the vast majority of Minecraft Dungeons players are just getting their adventures started, they may be curious as to what the max level cap is in the game.

As it turns out, the answer is a little bit more complicated than one might expect. The short answer is that the character level cap in Minecraft Dungeons is seemingly infinite (or no players have hit the level yet). Minecraft Dungeons has a leveling system that takes into account more than just the XP players get from killing enemies and progressing through the game. Minecraft Dungeons also takes enchantment points into consideration, along with the quality of the gear that players have equipped.

It's possible that the Minecraft Dungeons will eventually hit a cap of some sort. There are at least two DLC expansions in the works for Minecraft Dungeons in the form of Creeping Winter and Jungle Awakens, and there's a chance they will come with a level cap increase. However, that remains unconfirmed at the time of this writing, and before Minecraft Dungeons players even need to worry about any DLC, they will want to play through the main game first.

Based on the Minecraft Dungeons reviews, it doesn't seem as though a playthrough of the game will take all that long. One of the main criticisms lobbied against it is that it's on the shorter side of things, though the DLC will likely address that criticism whenever it releases. Perhaps more information on the Minecraft Dungeons DLC will come sooner rater than later, as Microsoft has some big events planned for this summer.

Microsoft has confirmed that it will be hosting a special Xbox Series X event in July where it will be revealing some of the new console's games. However, it's likely that this event will have announcements originally planned for Microsoft's E3 2020 press conference. It's possible, then, that it won't just focus on Xbox Series X, but may also be used to announce new content for Microsoft's existing games, like Minecraft Dungeons.

In the meantime, fans of Minecraft Dungeons can fight bosses like the Redstone Golem and work on reaching the max level cap while they wait for news on new content.

Minecraft Dungeons is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
