Summary

  • Minecraft modders can create custom mobs like Enderchester to aid in mining, adding unique gameplay features.
  • The mob can collect mined materials, granting XP orbs to the player, and can be tamed using an Ender Pearl.
  • The mod is set for release in the Easycraft Modpack soon, offering potential for new gameplay experiences.

A Minecraft modder has created a custom mob, dubbed "Enderchester," that collects nearby mined materials. Minecraft modders are known for expanding on the features available in the game, and this addition may be ideal for dedicated miners.

Since the earliest days of Minecraft, players have been able to mod the game, opening it to a world of potential. Over the years, modders have made tools like World Edit to simplify the creative process, to optimize gaming performance like Lithium, and some mods add other IPs to the game like Pixelmon's version of Pokemon. Given that the smallest mods make at least one slight change to the game, the plethora of mods ensures that even the most frequent players can freshen their experience. One gamer created a modpack that introduces a custom mob to the game, making mining for long hauls a little easier.

Reddit user Infinite_Swimming861 recently shared a clip that highlights their unique Minecraft custom creature mob mod. The video begins with the player placing their custom mob on the Overworld's surface from an inventory slot. The custom mob resembles a mimic from the Dungeons & Dragons universe but with the Ancient City aesthetic. Once placed, the gamer feeds their mob an Ender Pearl, which tames the creature. Minecraft Ender Pearls can be collected from defeated Endermen, who have a 50% chance of dropping one Pearl each. After taming what they call Enderchester, the creature opens its mouth to reveal an empty Chest inventory. The player then mines some nearby blocks, with the materials quickly being devoured by the Chest-like mob.

This Minecraft Modpack Introduces Helpful Mining Companion Enderchester

According to Infinite_Swimming861, this mob will be added to the Easycraft Modpack within the "next few versions." Despite the resources being gobbled up by Enderchester, the Minecraft XP Orbs flow into the player, showing that the bubbles can still be directed to the player with this modpack. The video concludes with the modder demonstrating that the mob can be instructed to stay, with the player activating this by crouching before clicking on it. Given that the mod is only demonstrated in this controlled setting, it's unclear if its pathfinding is strong enough for twisting caves or if it has to follow along a straight line like in this video. While some Reddit users praised the mod for the creature's cuteness, others expressed enthusiasm for its mining utility.

As the mob resembles something from the Deep Dark or an Ancient City, the modder could introduce lore implications for why Enderchester exists in their world. Because Mojang continues to add mobs to Minecraft, something like Enderchester could end up in the base game one day.

Minecraft is a game made up of blocks, creatures, and community. You can survive the night or build a work of art – the choice is all yours. But if the thought of exploring a vast new world all on your own feels overwhelming, then fear not!

Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like! This is why it’s sometimes called a “sandbox game” – there are lots of things for you to do, and lots of ways that you can play. If you like being creative, then you can use the blocks to build things from your imagination. If you’re feeling brave, you can explore the world and face daring challenges. Blocks can be broken, crafted, placed to reshape the landscape, or used to build fantastical creations.

Creatures can be battled or befriended, depending on how you play. The world of Minecraft allows for epic adventures, quiet meditations, and everything in between. You can even share your creations with other players, or play in community worlds!
