Featuring new RTS mechanics paired with Minecraft's staple gameplay offerings, Minecraft Legends challenges players to build, defend, and strategize with the Overworld’s forces to defeat the oncoming Piglin invaders. Minecraft Legends sees the return of classic elements from its predecessor, including resource gathering and building mechanics, and the return of blocks like Iron, Stone, Wood, and Coal, but now serving new purposes. One block that has been retooled significantly in Legends is Gold.

Instead of being a resource traditionally used to make armor, weapons, or building blocks, Gold in Minecraft Legends now works more like a currency. Due to the game’s new RTS gameplay style, Gold has been reworked as a resource required for creating improvement hubs and unlocking offensive towers like Frost and Stun Towers. Additionally, Gold is needed to reawaken some higher-level mobs in the end game. Thanks to its new-found importance, Gold is a lot trickier to come by than Minecraft Legends’ usual slate of blocks because it doesn’t spawn in the Overworld. However, there are a couple of ways players can line their pockets with Gold and start upgrading their Wellspring in no time.

How to Find Gold in Minecraft Legends

Minecraft Legends Base Rewards

The best way to find Gold in Minecraft Legends is to destroy Piglin bases. Once a base is conquered and the Nether Portal is destroyed, the player will receive a reward of Gold and Prismarine, which should help them build more improvements at their Wellspring. The game is balanced so that players will naturally have enough Gold to unlock more improvements to help them take on bigger and more difficult outposts.

Each Piglin faction has a set of three main outposts that range from easy to hard in terms of difficulty and will reward players with more Gold and Prismarine the harder the base. Storming these outposts and destroying their Nether Portals is the most reliable and repeatable way to obtain Gold in Minecraft Legends; however, there is another method with less consistency.

Scatted throughout Minecraft Legends’ procedurally generated worlds are Allay Chests and Piglin Chests that fans should open because they could potentially have Gold in them. However, fans should be aware that both Allay and Piglin Chests can also contain resources like Prismarine and Build or Gather Allays, which makes this method of finding Gold less reliable.

However, when these chests do have Gold, they generally have an abundance of it. Players should make sure they build the Allay Storage improvement at their Wellspring to keep a healthy reserve of Gold at hand at all times.

Minecraft Legends Piglin Chest Gold

Unlike in single-player and co-op, Minecraft Legends’ PvP offering doesn’t use Gold as a resource. Players will still have to raid Piglin bases to obtain Prismarine to create improvement hubs and craft various upgrades, but these upgrades take Gold out of the equation entirely.

Additionally, the chests scattered around the Overworld in PvP will usually contain resources like Coal or Lapis instead of Gold, Allays, or Prismarine, so players shouldn't look there first when searching for the more coveted resources.

Minecraft Legends is available April 18, 2023, on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
