Minecraft has brought new content for players with the launch of a new DLC based on Moana 2. The additional content is yet another in the impressive list of Minecraft crossovers with popular IPs that have been given the blocky treatment and added to Mojang's game.
Celebrating one of cinema's most beloved franchises, Minecraft got a Jurassic World DLC last year, adding content based on the most recent entries. Dungeons and Dragons has also crossover with the popular sandbox, bringing notable locations such as Candlekeep and Revel's End, and traditional dice-based combat. For fans of Japanese pop culture, a standout release this year was the addition of Godzilla, allowing players to transform into the famous monster.
This time Minecraft is collaborating with Moana 2, and a new DLC inspired by the movie has been released at a price tag of 1500 minecoins or $8.99. The content, available for the Bedrock version of Minecraft, sees Chief Tui wanting to expand the village of Motunui to more islands. Players will then meet Moana and Maui, learn to navigate the oceans to experience new adventures for the release of Moana 2, which hits theaters on November 27, visit iconic locations, and experience moments from both films.
Minecraft Adds New Adventure Inspired by Moana 2
As well as visiting familiar locations from the Moana universe in Minecraft style, the DLC will introduce players to new characters and old acquaintances. Among them are Simea, Moana's little sister, the Hei Hei roster, and Tamatoa, the giant crab who served as the antagonist in the 2016 movie. Other adventures await exploring the secrets of Wayfinder's Cavern, in fights against the Kakamora pirates, and in the monstrous kingdom of Lalotai, the destination for recovering Maui's book. Additionally, players will be able to change the appearance of their Minecraft character with the Flower Crown, a new cosmetic item available for free for a limited time via the Dressing Room.
This isn't the first time that Mojang's famous sandbox has received a DLC inspired by a well-known movie. Previously, Minecraft collaborated with Kung Fu Panda, and different Disney feature films such as The Lion King, Minions, Beauty and the Beast, and Star Wars. The Moana 2 DLC, on the other hand, not only arrives as a kind of warm-up for the release of the movie, but also after other important updates, such as the one that added the new Pale Garden biome and the new Creaking mob to the game.

Minecraft is a game made up of blocks, creatures, and community. You can survive the night or build a work of art – the choice is all yours. But if the thought of exploring a vast new world all on your own feels overwhelming, then fear not!
Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like! This is why it’s sometimes called a “sandbox game” – there are lots of things for you to do, and lots of ways that you can play. If you like being creative, then you can use the blocks to build things from your imagination. If you’re feeling brave, you can explore the world and face daring challenges. Blocks can be broken, crafted, placed to reshape the landscape, or used to build fantastical creations.
Creatures can be battled or befriended, depending on how you play. The world of Minecraft allows for epic adventures, quiet meditations, and everything in between. You can even share your creations with other players, or play in community worlds!
