- The duck creation impressed Reddit, sparking interest in replicating the design.
- Building smaller additions, like ducks, can add personality to Minecraft worlds without needing a lot of time to complete.
A Minecraft fan has showcased an impressive duck they built in the game. While ducks are not one of the official mobs in Minecraft, this fan's design could give players an easy way to add some waterfowl to their in-game worlds.
Mojang has added a variety of mobs to Minecraft since the game’s inception over a decade ago. From passive mobs to neutral and hostile ones, the game's procedurally generated worlds are teeming with life. These mobs help add personality to the many biomes in Minecraft, and players can benefit from having some of them around. Even though Mojang continues to update the game, some fans are still hoping for their requested mobs to come to the game. As a result, some have resorted to building their own versions of them.
Recently, a player known as Loafboyrye on Reddit shared a picture of a duck they made in the game. While the design was relatively simple, it looked remarkably similar to the real-world animal. Based on the image, the player used several common blocks in Minecraft to build their version of a duck. Specifically, the design had Cobblestone, Wood, Grass, and what appeared to be Calcite. The Reddit user also chose a combination of planks, stairs, and regular blocks to make the duck shape. They also used buttons for the eyes of the bird. Beyond replicating the shape of a duck, Loafboyrye showed how it could look incorporated into a game world: their duck was placed in a body of water next to a lily pad.
Minecraft Player's Duck Design
When sharing the build on Reddit, Loafboyrye said their creation was already a hit on Twitter. This popularity has carried over to Reddit, with more than 17K users upvoting the design. Many complimented the builder on the simple yet effective creation, and some said they wanted to copy the design for their own worlds. Others wanted to see Loafboyrye attempt to make other animals in the game.
This duck build is one of numerous creations shared by the Minecraft community recently. As one of the best-selling games of all time, players often share unique and breathtaking builds. For example, another player recently constructed a sci-fi-themed Nether Portal in Minecraft, catching the attention of many fans.
While bigger builds are often stunning, this duck design from Loafboyrye reveals that sometimes players can make charming additions to their worlds with relatively few blocks. Unlike mega structures in Minecraft that require many hours and thousands of blocks to complete, any gamer could add a few ducks to their in-game ponds to add a nice touch to the setting. Time will tell what the game’s community creates next.

Minecraft is a game made up of blocks, creatures, and community. You can survive the night or build a work of art – the choice is all yours. But if the thought of exploring a vast new world all on your own feels overwhelming, then fear not!
Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like! This is why it’s sometimes called a “sandbox game” – there are lots of things for you to do, and lots of ways that you can play. If you like being creative, then you can use the blocks to build things from your imagination. If you’re feeling brave, you can explore the world and face daring challenges. Blocks can be broken, crafted, placed to reshape the landscape, or used to build fantastical creations.
Creatures can be battled or befriended, depending on how you play. The world of Minecraft allows for epic adventures, quiet meditations, and everything in between. You can even share your creations with other players, or play in community worlds!
