Recently, a player on Reddit known as CraftyFoxeYT showcased their recreation of a Union Pacific Locomotive in the game. The results were impressive, with the player using an assortment of Minecraft blocks to replicate the various details of the real-life machine. Some design highlights included using TNT blocks to help form an American flag on the side of the locomotive and giving the build a vivid yellow color that made the whole thing pop.

Minecraft Player's Union Pacific Locomotive Build

This recreation of a Union Pacific Locomotive has gained traction on the game’s subreddit, with over 2.4K users upvoting the design. In the comments, users praised the design. Specifically, some highlighted the creative use of TNT blocks in Minecraft to create the flag. However, some joked that using the blocks made the build potentially explosive.

Besides CraftyFoxeYT, other fans have been putting their building skills to the test lately. While creations based on the real world are impressive, some gamers have imagined some of their favorite characters from popular video games in Mojang's title. For example, another player recently showcased their love for the Pokemon series by creating a golden Mewtwo statue in Minecraft. Much like CraftyFoxeYT’s locomotive, this recreation of the iconic Pokemon by Reddit user sushi-btw matched the look of the original’s design in impressive detail.

As players build amazing creations, Mojang continues to update the game. At the end of 2024, the developer added the Pale Garden to Minecraft as part of a game drop, bringing new features, including an unnerving mob called the Creaking. In addition, a new snapshot for the game was released at the start of 2025, revealing even more features, like new pig variants and falling leaves, for players to test out. Time will tell if this new content will keep building-oriented players returning to the game in the months ahead.

Minecraft is a game made up of blocks, creatures, and community. You can survive the night or build a work of art – the choice is all yours. But if the thought of exploring a vast new world all on your own feels overwhelming, then fear not!

Minecraft has no set goal and can be played however you’d like! This is why it’s sometimes called a “sandbox game” – there are lots of things for you to do, and lots of ways that you can play. If you like being creative, then you can use the blocks to build things from your imagination. If you’re feeling brave, you can explore the world and face daring challenges. Blocks can be broken, crafted, placed to reshape the landscape, or used to build fantastical creations.

Creatures can be battled or befriended, depending on how you play. The world of Minecraft allows for epic adventures, quiet meditations, and everything in between. You can even share your creations with other players, or play in community worlds!
